E.On (EON) offering me a 2-year fix with no exit option

I have recently been switched to E.ON (EON) Next and they are offering me a 2-year fix deal at slightly above the current rates but less than the increased rates in April for 2-years but not offering an exit fee as they say I cant leave the tariff early.

Can they do this?

Is this a deal worth taking considering prices are likely to rise again in October?

what are the rates that they are offering? Name of tariff?

I would be very surprised if they are able to lock you in with no option to leave at all but I am not an expert.

Assuming that this is a domestic contract, not business, they could theoretically offer a tariff with no cancellation option, but they could not stop you switching to a different provider.
This does sound rather odd though, could you tell us the exact name of the tariff they have offered to you?

Hi, the Tariff was called a 'Next 2 Year v18'

    Electric Unit Charge 27.36p/kWh
    Standing Charge 62.23p/der
    Gas Unit Charge 7.28p/kWh
    Gas Standing Charge 40.92p/day

Those prices above are very much the quote I've had to fix for 2 years save for the electric SC (slightly lower regional variations)
Below is what they say for the V18 fix...

Kwh rates  identical to April 2022 energy capped rates + additional £100+ per year standing charges dual fuel

So I wont really see any savings unless it goes up again in October 22 and then its a gamble as to whether prices go up or down in April 23 & Oct 23?

1 year fix available to existing customers, rates are identical to April 2022 energy capped rates thus would gain more if energy cap rises as expected October 2022

I'm not sure why but I couldn't get that deal. My 1-year fix deal was called "Next 1 Year v7" and was a lot more expensive than the 2-year fixed, prices for the 1-year in brackets below:

    Electric Unit Charge 27.36p/kWh (43.54p)
    Standing Charge 62.23p/der (52.04p)
    Gas Unit Charge 7.28p/kWh (13.97p)
    Gas Standing Charge 40.92p/day (26.17p)

Got a call back in the morning so might mention that V11 deal.

The 1 year fix (V11) will be the one I'm opting for. I'm in there variable Net Flex ATM having moved from Igloo last October. It's a no-brainer really with the option to exit with no fee. We don't know what will happen come October, no one does.
The only other option is to use less to save the pounds. It'll take this 54% increase to jolt some folk into actually doing something about their energy usage.
