Omg I realise I haven't updated in forever! So we have our mortgage!! Halifax have said yes! We have our searches back too! The solicitor called on Wednesday last week to ask if we had any particular dates we wanted to exchange on... We don't have any particular date in mind so maybe end of the month, middle of next month 🤔
It still hasn't really sunk in!
I've paid off £7k in debt too so far!
We've also pushed back our trip to Disneyland to next March as it's a bit soon to be doing it in September and didn't want to go during the winter as it'll be cold in the queues for the small human!
It's all systems go! Hope you are all well too!Life is too short not to love what you do.3 -
Sounds like fabulous news. Well done on clearing debt. Sounds sensible to move your trip.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Still waiting to complete! Why does everything grind to a halt right near the end and you don’t hear from anyone?!Everything’s on hold, can’t pay anything more to my debt until we move just incase I need the cash for bills etc. but at least the numbers aren’t rising so that’s something. The house is a tip, boxes everywhere we can barely move from room to room… we just want a date and I wanted it to be this Friday but at the moment that’s looking unlikely 😭Life is too short not to love what you do.1

Today is D Day!
Waiting on a phone call to go collect the keys.
It's so weird isn't it that we give a tonne of money to strangers to deal with all this?! Then we just go get the keys and have empty bank accounts!
Anyway, let's hope it's not too long to wait!Life is too short not to love what you do.2 -
Hope you get the call soon!! 🤞 you've done brilliantly and good luck in your new home!! 😁'Happiness is not a destination but the journey you walk every day'

What a day! The solicitors were an absolute nightmare, they said at lunchtime that we wouldn't be exchanging or completing today because there was still things outstanding and the funds hadnt even been requested.I HIT THE ROOF!I was so angry and disappointed that I just sobbed like a baby!Anyway I then realised that she sent me the docs we already had signed and sent back Tuesday and that the woman I spoke to on Friday said the funds were requested that day so we could complete in 7 days..So I had to explain all that to the original solicitor and eventually she realised what I was saying, checked our file and got some lacky to call me to get another £246 "completion fee" out of me and then sent our contracts to the other solicitors. Then at 3:50 they called and said we can go get the keys.I don't wanna do this again for a while!Life is too short not to love what you do.1
