Sky TV and Sky Phone/Broadband are two entirely different things with different contracts.
If you just cancel TV, your TV goes off (and you send the equipment back if its Sky Q), otherwise Sky+HD becomes a chunky FTA receiver.

If you're out of contract with the broadband just pick somebody else and sign up, they'll do all the work. The 31 day thing for that is more to do with if you weren't going to another provider/didn't need broadband on the line any longer.

Hi. Long story short. I cancelled my sky package completely. I've given 31 days notice.

I've been advised on anoher post if I wanted to get another broadband supplier I have to get the sky broadband reinstated with the phone line.
Not sure how and if I need to do this as sky said when I wanted to cancel my TV package they can't just cancel the TV package and would only cancel everything. Which they have done yesterday.
    Is this correct?
Is it going to affect getting a new broadband and phone line supplier when the 31 days are up?
I'm totally confused now as I only really wanted to cancel the TV package but sky said no.
You just go to another broadband provider and sign up, and set the installation date/start date as the day after your Sky contract ends. Simples.

Oh. Thank you so much for this 😊.
I've been seriously panicking all day about this. What with all the fuel price nightmares I'm trying to cut back on everything so sky has to go. (Well like I said I only wanted to cut the TV package really)
I'm looking for 30 day rolling contracts for beoadband..
Are there any good deals around?
    Are they any good?
Sorry for all the questions. I haven't a clue as I've been a sky customer for nearly 14 years with everything tied into their contracts, so I'm lost

Hi. So if there entirely different contracts why did sky say I can't cancel my TV package without them cancelling my broadband and line rental?

Everybody is naturally nervous after being with their provider like Sky, or BT for a long time. There is now a far better switching process these days than in the past, with the new provider usually dealing with all the issues in the background for you. All you want to do is try to make sure you set your start date at the correct date that suits your needs. E.g. if you don't want any downtime on your internet, then be sure to sign up to your new broadband provider and select the day after your Sky broadband ends.
As for 30 day rolling contracts, you can try Cuckoo broadband. Customer service is said to be good and they fix their price for 12 months.

  • Alternatively, Vodafone Broadband were doing an offer at one point for FTTC broadband at £18 a month. It would be on a 24 month contract though and subject to April price increase (of around 10%).

    Thank you
I have got a lot of thinking to do.
My contracts runs until 25th march and at present I'm not in too much of a hurry to rush into any deals. I'm a single home occupier so I haven't any children who need access to the internet. I can always use my work/gym internet access and at a pinch my mobile phone data allowance until I get things up and running.
I'm also trying to find just broadband package with no phone line.
Everyone has been so helpful which is amazing as I was really getting worried.

It's a long time since I've been without one, but is there still a reconnection charge if you terminate your landline (which is what the OP seems to have done)?

Hi. The thing is I don't need a landline. Sky have always added it to my contract but I haven't even got any home phones. I never have had and I wouldn't even know my home phone number. The last time I did have a home phone was around 12 years ago.
As for the cancelled TV package Im still using my own sky + box as my TV isn't compatable with the sky Q box and hasnt got a usb port for a stick either.
This is another reason I'm getting rid of sky so I will eventually when I can afford to upgrade my TV and stream and get rid of the TV licence completely and go for 30 day rolling contracts with everything
My gym and mobile phone subscriptions are this way and next on my list was  getting rid of Sky. The energy crisis pushed me to cancel sky a lot quicker than I was going to as did their price increases again

You want to set the installation date for the day of your contract end, or even slightly before if you don't want to have any break in service.

Typically (but not always) a 30 day contract will cost more than a 12 month contract, but does give some additional flexibility
