Just because it doesn't cost you anything at the point of use, it doesn't mean it's free.
There's a common misconception that affiliate links that result in others getting revenue don't cost you anything. In all likeliness the retailer will simply pass on that cost (as they probably would with any marketing costs) to the consumer. So you are paying more because of affiliate payments.
Granted, some sort of incentive scheme to encourage greater demand will drive down prices in the longer run, however, generally the costs will be greater as it's more likely the retailer will pass the cost on. Therefore, sites like HotUKDeals do cost some consumers - as they get a cut of the revenue / add to the cost of purchasing a good online. Sites like Quidco would allow you to retrieve that revenue instead.
Furthermore, the site is driven by viewers who spend time sharing their knowledge. There are 'shoe leather' costs involved in finding out about any 'bargains' and time spent sharing. Again these aren't free (although they may not have a financial costs attached to them).
Please don't forget that HotUKdeals is not run on the same basis as this site. Martin is completely open and honest regarding affiliate links and regarding the revenue this site generates.0 -

Quite frankly I'm a IT professional and think the redesign is awful!!!
Before I could click straight into the forums, straight to the search, straight to the deal. Now I haven't a clue where I am going!
I have a spare vBulletin license, I'm quite tempted to knock up my own back to basics deal site over the weekend!!!
Vbulletin is awesome, the best forum software out there bar none, I don't know why all forum sites (including this one) don't use it.
Simple layout, loads of functionality, quick, stable, cheap - it's what we call in IT (and the rest of the world) a no-brainer.0 -

Will the admins please ban this user. The link they have provided takes you to a website that drops loads of affiliate cookies on your pc using hidden frames.0 -
