What happened to Hot Deals UK?

Quite frankly I'm a IT professional and think the redesign is awful!!!
Before I could click straight into the forums, straight to the search, straight to the deal. Now I haven't a clue where I am going!
I have a spare vBulletin license, I'm quite tempted to knock up my own back to basics deal site over the weekend!!!0 -
I don't know what is happening but on the deal pages I can't get beyond the first page. Please someone get them to change it back!Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0

Bet the designer was 'got to' by some of the high street big boys that Hotukdeal has hurt over the last year and forced to design an unusable web site>:p"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0

Anyone let HDUK know of this thread? They are probably oblivious to it all and running Windows XP or 95 with no problems. And what is the betting the web designer is 'off for Christmas' until at least the new year!
Must say the RSS feeds are working ok for me though.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Gutted - just given up with the new site. It's like losing a friend....
won't be able to buy anything now without that terrible feeling that I may have been able to get it cheaper!0 -
The simple answer is that the Admin on HUKD has gone insane!
There is no doubt that a massive number of users are extremely unhappy with the change (just look at https://www.hotukdeals.com/all/feedback/new) but it'd seem that the Admin is completely ignoring everyone and pressing ahead with changes that don't seem to rational.
I'm not sure why anyone would take a tried and tested format (the forum that underpins the site), modify it so it works well and then decide to start from scratch using the same forum format (the same one running on this site) but removing most of the functions. It's bizarre.
Granted the site was obvious struggling with resources - but rather than change everything they should have done what Martin has done here and had the site optimised for performance. Ironically, the changes seem to have made HUKD even more unstable and even slower (not surprising given the extensive 2 day testing!).
Remember, however, HUKD is not run on the same basis as MSE - so there is the possibility that it's being done for financial reasons. However, they'll hopefully soon remember that they very much rely on the users for content, and they are running the risk of alienating all the users very quickly.
It would seem that the Admin is, however, quite stuborn (coupled with insane) and that the site is being tweaked at the moment to try and bring it more in line with the 'old' site!
It's complete madness.0 -

I often went to HDUK 10-20 times a day easily , ive been 3 times today and gave up after 10 mins , cant find anything its terrible, when you click on a post the font is so small you can hardly see it.
And the last week before xmas as well :eek:0 -
pah, I think it's awesome
nah not really, it now looks like it was designed by a 3 year old, could honestly have done better using frontpage!0 -
It does indeed look terrible, there are some good features that could have been incorporated into the old design but the update as a whole is shabby, best bit is the Admin and his team have been working months on that new update!, it was originally supposed to be deployed way back in May, so its been months and months of "hard" work to design that awful mess.
What Happened To Summer!?
