  • Thanks everyone! Tried to have a NSD yesterday to celebrate and thought I could be clever by paying on supermarket points for my lunch but got told at the till checkout there is a minimum spend for points! Very frustrating. Been getting a few vouchers for £4.50 off a £30 shop with them for using loyalty card at the minute though so can't complain too much. Today will be a NSD!

£150 switch money through today but somehow been swallowed up into my budget already. Approved for another further switch today, which I think is the last one I can get. Relieved to be done with them but have made a good amount of money!

Lodger has asked to stay on for another week or maybe another month so that will be a few more pounds at least. Going to put that straight to debt as it is money I was not expecting. Going to trial a new budget set up from next month with reduction of amount in spending account, which will just be for groceries, travel, meals out etc then anything out of the ordinary like clothes, holidays, gifts etc will have a separate fund, which I will add to monthly. I have holiday payment and hen party to pay for within next month or so :worried: Bills come out of a different account. Will see how I get on! Cooking a few meals today to take in for a weekend at work then hopefully will stack up a few NSDs.

    Current situation:
    Debt £3460
    Savings £1160

    No other news!

    Hope everyone is well  :)

  • Hello!

Extremely hectic weekend at work. Finished late every day so ended up getting taxis to and from rather than the bus so zero NSDs for me! Had home cooked lunch every day though rather than buying from canteen though so saved more money than I normally would. On a very tight budget until payday now but feeling relatively positive. All bills for the month paid except pet insurance so happy that account is okay, just need to be very careful with spending. Waiting to hear from lodger regarding their plans. Having a quiet day off today just recovering really. Will plan some meals for the week and head to the supermarket later. Think I have another £4.50 off £30 coupon.

Also has anyone else's signature reset on here? Must be a glitch!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday.

  • Feeling a bit fed up today about being broke all the time! Also feel like I am not making very much progress with debts so what is the point in trying. Living the worst of both worlds at the minute.. not being able to spend money on what I want to but not getting any closer to getting debt gone! Think it is probably just a down day. Living alone is really eating up a lot of my salary. Would be a lot cheaper to have somebody to share the mortgage and bills with! My boyfriend and I are planning on moving in together but we both need to sell our current places so it is going to take a while and we won't be looking until next year at the earliest. Know I am in a lucky position at the minute though, being in work etc. Just need to focus on positives! I would just like to be able to go and buy myself a new pair of work trousers without stressing about it sending the whole budget off kilter! Desperately awaiting payday.

    Thanks guys.

Nothing has changed really in my current situation but feeling a bit better generally. Have been having quite a lot of money conversations with my boyfriend, which I think will put us in a good position for next year when we do hopefully buy a place together and start sharing some finances. He is taking more of an interest in where he is spending his money but we still have some huge discrepancies in what we think is acceptable to spend on certain things (he is willing to splash out more!) but he is not in any debt so I guess generally he is already better with money than I am. As I said, it is good to get into the habit of talking about these things early I guess!

Having a quiet weekend but not sure I'll manage any NSDs. Had to buy cat food today and tomorrow will get shop for the week in.

Next week hoping for some switch money to come through but need to pay for hen weekend and save for holiday. Will see what finances are like and whether can put a bit more to my debt! Think I will feel better and like I have achieved something once I pay off enough to get me down to 2000s.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
