  • Knackered this morning. The cat had one of those nights where he decided he wanted attention at 2.30 am and then again at 4.00 am yowling and then lying across my neck purring! He is now sleeping happily whilst I have to go to work! Payday today though. Money moved around including holiday money transferred to my boyfriend. Can't wait! This is the first time I have ever saved for a holiday really so proud of that!

Ouch to the repeated wake ups.

Well done on the holiday savings. As you say - huge progress.

  • Helloo DFWers!

Hope everyone had a nice bank holiday weekend.

Only a short update from me. Done some reworking of how I manage my pots to split my sinking funds into different categories instead of one big pot. I'm going to split into "additional bills and spending" this is for all the bills I don't pay monthly and any once yearly subscriptions plus a small amount for those months where I need a little extra over budget, then the other two are "holidays" and "Christmas". Will see how I get on with those for now!

Prolific seemed to stop giving me surveys for a period but have managed to do around £3 worth over last couple of days. Aiming to try to do £10- 20 worth per week, which would add up to be £500- £1000 in a year! Ambitious but let's see..

Completed this week's envelope challenge today. I withdrew 33 + 2 so paid £35 to my credit card bringing my total debt amount down to £1784.

Feeling the pinch with cost of living but so glad I decided to start getting my finances in order at the start of the year before everything started to get so bad. Honestly owe a lot to all the people on here I have learnt so much from! Feel really glad that my spending is no longer spiralling out of control like it was for pretty much all of my adult life! There are definitely difficult times ahead but I feel better equipped to deal with them! So thanks everyone!

So today is the big day that the estate agent is coming round to take photos of the house to put it on the market! I'm very nervous but also exhausted from all the cleaning I have been doing! I have had to spend £250 to pay for a few different things to get it ready including someone to clear out my cellar and take all the rubbish to the tip (I don't have a car nor the willpower for that job unfortunately!) and some other decorative things to make the house look more appealing. Really it just means I haven't added to my savings as I normally would this month. It will be worth it though in the long run if the house sells quickly as it will be less time paying the mortgage for me! I have moved £200 out of my EF savings and I have around £18 pending on vinted and £14 pending on prolific then hoping to make up the final few pounds with more surveys and selling. EF stands at £1117 and sinking funds £56 after being depleted for holiday spending money.

I can't believe it is September already, the year is flying by!

My total debt paid in August was £616, which isn't bad but not my highest. Still waiting to be paid for the extra shifts.. I will be lucky to get the money before Christmas at this rate!

    I too would chase payroll.

Well done on getting the house ready for sale and your debt repayments.

Sounds like you've done a lovely job of staging the house ready for sale.

  • Thanks guys!

House photo taking seemed to go okay and the listing should be finished in next few days then it will be on the market! I heard from a neighbour that a house one street over sold within 7 days recently so I'm hoping for similar. Looking at that house online though it is a lot nicer than mine..

@beanielou and @savingholmes payroll have been getting twice weekly emails from me but the new apparent issue is that because they are extra shifts they need to be logged onto a particular computer system but the only person who can do this is on holiday and nobody else has the power??? Doesn't seem like a great system to me!!!

    Will get there eventually!

Also £20.53 cashed out from Prolific.. at the minute this is just going towards the bills deficit from money spent clearing the house.

    Thanks!

  • So I had to go into my EF again yesterday as I remembered my bus pass ran out at the end of August. Decided to use my EF to buy a new one, which was £300 but it runs until the end of June so it works out as 99p per day, which is a lot cheaper in the long run! I know it doesn't technically classify as an emergency but it will save me a lot of money so I feel okay about using it. Previously I might have dug myself deeper into my overdraft to pay for it so it felt nice to have money set aside. I was considering setting up another sinking fund for big one off transport costs but I don't know where I am going to be living this time next year so I'm going to wait and see for now.

    No other news.

Hope everyone has a happy Friday!
