Good afternoon,
Wet & windy here today, but I've dug out my wet weather gear and am determined to go for a walk, once I've finished watching Bargain Hunt that is😉
Was up quite early this morning and made a victoria sponge sandwich with jam and buttercream filling 🍰as my Mother was calling over for a cup of tea. She came earlier than I thought so I hastily assembled the cake before it was quite cold and the buttercream melted a little. I could imagine getting a telling off from Prue & Paul, tasted good though😋
Take care everyone🌻10 -
Nelski - that made me laugh too - my mam has done that too - 'I'm just ringing to see if my phone's working' haha11

Storm Dudley has arrived, it's even windier than before and the rain is like stair rods - I'm glad I took the rubbish out to the bins before it started, although heaven knows where the bins will end up!
Phone/broadband bill dropped in my Inbox this morning; they hadn't processed my renewal request and had charged me a higher standard rate on the advance payment part. Grrr. So, after a lengthy webchat, they've now done the renewal and will adjust the next bill accordingly. I shall be keeping a beady eye on it! Tbf, the agent was very helpful.
I rang the eye clinic to check on when my retinal screening appointment is (didn't get round to it yesterday) and it's next Tuesday. Weather forecast is looking reasonable for that day, although that could all change before then. Fingers crossed.
Had a call on my mobile from BT (supposedly); I had an idea it was a scam call so hung up PDQ. On checking the Who called me website I found they'd had many, many reports of it being a scam. I'm still wondering where they got my number from though, as I'm very selective as to who I give it to. Not long after that there was another call from someone asking for Katie. No, I'm not Katie, sorry.
All this in the space of about 20 minutes! Busy day in the "office"I felt quite frazzled!
Be kind to others and to yourself too.13 -

Suffolksue - I look on Pinterest for ideas. Want a variety of things on my stall for the upcoming fair. Burnt my thumb when using my hot glue gun yesterday - only a small burn but really hurt. Mr F heard me shout when I did it.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Florenceem , you make some beautiful things, I love the bunnies. I like Snoozer's quilt as well it's lovely. The only sewing I've got on at the moment is taking up some trousers, exciting stuff. I was going to turn a dress into a skirt, but decided that it wasn't worth the hassle, so I took it to the CS. When I bought it I wasn't quite sure about it, I should have left it in the shop.12

ScarletRibbons - thanks - I love to craft. I like visiting charity shops - saw a pair of lounge trousers last week - thought to myself - that fabric will make lovely teddy bears - only cost me £1.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Florence, I used to buy clothes in charity shops to cut up and make doll's clothes for my Dgd, what a money saver, rather than buying fabric by the metre.

Fair to say Storm Dudley has landed here - blowing a hoolie outside and the garden's already flooded with all the rain.hail - the joys of living in a heavy clay area.
Work OK today,, had our big monthly meeting which went OK. Have got all the actions to do (as per usual) but better than it might have been.
Salad for dinner tonight (trying to be good!) and a TV evening ahead (hopefully blocking out the wind noise outside....)
Hope everyone stays safe in the wind tonight
