It's surprising how many useful items/gifts, etc, can be made from craft stashes, @Hastingslass. I'm more of a knitter than a stitcher & am currently knitting up my yarn stash. I'm just on the final toe section of the 3rd pair of socks for my partner. As I've used up even very small amounts of leftover self-patterning yarns, they do look very colourful & bohemian & he's really pleased with them. I still have sufficient yarn in my stash to knit a pair of purple cable socks for me plus probably a pair for stashing away in the presents bag. I'm hoping another unfinished stash project can be used to re-cover my piano stool for free. Always worth seeing what can be sourced from our existing craft stashes.

Hi Foxgloves,
The only things I’ve brought from my old life are my craft things and Kitchen Aid. Things that I have only used.Your socks sound fab I’ve got a stash of wool needing to use up so I’ll have to get my needles out.Yea I’m determined to get rid of some of my enormous pile of fabric it fills the fitted wardrobe in the spare bedroom ( which I use as my craft room)
Anyway payday today so I’ve got £987.55 in my EF
£800 (which I will start paying off my debts from next month)
£150 left from moving
£37.55 from what was left in my current account and some survey money.
I’ll make it up to £1000 with any bit of survey money then that will go into my savings after that.
All my pots have been added to this morning just hope my car passes it’s MOT as Ive only got £100 in that pot. It’s booked in on 17th.Budget for weekly spends set at £60 which is doable as I very rarely put fuel in my car these days and I’ve got a pot for the extra fuel and costs I’ll need when I go to my workplace once a month. I have taken this out of what I would have spent on fuel going into work before lockdown.
Got a hair appointment on Saturday afternoon. I used to have my hair gone every 6 weeks but have now gone to every 8 weeks. The grey is awful on my roots I absolutely hate it but I know I can’t afford it.I have tried dying my hair myself but have ruined do many clothes in this process I decided I have to go to the hairdresser!!3 -
Hi Hastingslass, I hope you are doing ok. I’ve just read through your diary and wanted to say well done on getting away from the horrible situation you were in. It is a pity you are left with these debts but you are safe now and can control your own future to a great extent.Sorry the stuff with your manager was so upsetting, I hope that got resolved.I have enjoyed reading about your sewing and upcycling antics, I enjoy these things too. I have also been in significant debt - all self-inflicted - but the help on this site was amazing and I am now debt-free. It didn’t happen overnight, and it probably won’t for you, but you have a great approach to it and I’m sure you’ll get there before too long. Some of the challenges on the deft free wannabe board are brilliant, eg the ninja saving turtles one, where they all help and support each other. The walking group sounds like a good way to get to know some more people around you, and exercise at the same time, well done.Good luck with it all, I hope you keep your diary going if you can. Well sorry I’ve been MIA but I’ve been u well with what I can only describe as the worst flu I’ve had for many a year. I’ve been in bed for nearly 3 weeks. I thought it must be covid but after do many LFT’s I have to say I think it was flu. Today is the first day I’ve felt anywhere near normal and I’ve been out for a walk. The only plus side of this is that I’ve spent very little apart from cold and flu meds which my DD has been bringing me.I can’t believe we’re at the 19th of March.1

Well after being ill I have this week had my car MOT’d it failed which I was gutted about and cost £327 to get it back on the road. Gutted as I only had £100 in my car pot so had to take £227 out of my EF. Payday is Thursday next week and I have still got £63 left in my current account with food in my cupboards and fuel I’m my car.I’m planning on spending nothing until payday so I can put this into my EF.
another £2.28 from surveys today which will also go into my EF. I’m planning on getting my EF to £1000 and then using my extra earnings to go into a pot to offer a full and final payment on one of my debtsI’ve had a lovely walk today with my neighbour. The weather has been spectacular,
DD has asked me for Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day tomorrow so I’m really looking forward to that.Going to do some sewing tonight I’m going to make a tote bag for a friends birthday but the best thing is I’ve got everything I need to make it-so although it has cost me in the past the present won’t cost me anything now.0 -
Oh that's rotten about the car expense. At least you had the EF to draw on though, & didn't need to put the repairs onto a credit card.
Lovely when you can make nice new things, esp gifts, from existing craft stashes. I've recently knitted 4 nice pairs of socks for Mr F, just putting together various leftover sock yarn colours from my stash. I have a set of wooden flower looms somewhere, bought at a festival back in the Spendy Years, & I should probably get those out & see what I could make with them using my yarn stash.

FYes F at least I could pay for it which I’m thankful for as since I’m on a DMP I have no access to credit.
My first payment goes to Step hangs on Friday and I’ll feel so much better knowing I’m paying back and I’ll keep doing surveys etc so I can pay back a little quicker1 -
Just back from a lovely Sunday Lunch with my DD, DSil and DGK I was thoroughly spoiled with some lovely flowers and my favourite Chanel No 5 perfume. A really lovely day was had by us all and I feel blessed to have this stability in my life.Payday on Thursday and my first payment goes out to StepChange on Friday. My first of 39 payments to debt freedom.
