Daffodils are such an uplifting flower, well worth the £ spent for the splash of cheeriness on your desk. Good idea to set up a payment plan with the solicitor. I’ve found that the best way to afford legal costs following separation.

Write to all the banks you have joint account, and get them closed if you can. If they won't close them make sure they understand what has happened and not to allow any loans or similar without checking first with you, tell them it is a police matter.

Well I’m finished work for the weekend. I was offered 4 hours tomorrow from my employer but turned it down as I’m working my Friday next week( I work a 9 day fortnight) and need some time off. I’m going to make my granddaughter a round makeup bag tomorrow as part of her birthday present. I’ve brought all my fabric, sewing machine and supplies from my old life( the only things I want) but I have so much fabric it’s ridiculous so I’m gonna try selling some of it.. I love looking at the pretty 😍 colours but know the amount is ridiculous. One of my colleagues has also asked me to make one for her daughter son I’ll be able to take that with me when I go into the office the week after next. NSD here today so all good on that front and £2.54 from surveys l. I’ve decided to keep all my extra money I’ll be making in a separate account as I need to track it and make sure I don’t earn over £1000 in any sales from my sewing or surveys. I certainly don’t want to have to register with HMRC. I’ve decided to use the £800 this month for my EF and add £20/month to it. I’ve set up accounts for my money pots for all essential outgoings so I’m feeling a little more positive even though I didn’t sleep last night thinking of the debt and how and why was I so stupid….2

Well I’m home after looking after my grandchildren so I’m getting ready for work in the morning. Sunday lunch was at my daughters before coming home and she sent me home with enough for bubble and squeak tomorrow. How things have changed from me helping her to her helping me.. just doesn’t seem right somehow but it does mean I haven’t used food for dinners in the past 2 days and have enough for tomorrow too so hopefully I’ll not need to shop till the weekend except for milk and maybe bread. We watched Paddington 2 last night such an uplifting film and we all love Paddington. Kids slept well just wishing as. I’ve made lemon drizzle cake tonight to keep my spirits up as I should be off this Friday but have agreed to do 6 hours overtime… seemed like a good idea last week.My neighbour has introduced herself to me this afternoon. She seems nice and has asked me if I’d like to join the local walking group. I think I will as I need to meet new people. I also made my 2 round makeup bags which are really pretty. I’ve got everything to go into it for my granddaughter’s for her birthday which has come out of my £20 I’ve saved so far in my present budget but because I had all the fabric for the makeup bag so £10 left of my budget. I really must start to use using the stash of fabric I have…3

Sounds like a lovely weekend. Home made lemon drizzle cake is a great way to keep your spirits up.

I’ve checked my bank and have £38 left to get me till the 28th. Should be doable as I went shopping last night as I had a £2 off voucher which expires today and I am the duty officer at work today so won’t finish as early as usual and I was worried I wouldn’t be bothered to go tonight. I’ve spent £16 with my voucher being taken off so I’m very happy with this - this week so hoping I can manage to get till next Thursday so I can get to shopping every 8 days instead of every 7. The money I have left at the end of the month will go to my EF. I’ve got another £1.95 to check out from surveys and I’m thinking I should start a small savings account with this if I’m putting the £800 I would normally be paying off my debts (once my DMP is set up) into my EF. I have a round trip of 400 miles next week as this is the week I need to go into the office for the day. I was looking at staying at a travel lodge in the town I work in but a friend has offered me a bed for the night. I’ve accepted on the basis I buy the ingredients for our dinner. It’ll be so lovely to see her as I do feel a bit lonely here as I don’t know many people yet and WFH is great but means you don’t get out during the day.
I am going to go to the Walking Club at the weekend but will have to buy a flask to take a hot drink with me but have everything I need for the picnic. I might make a banana loaf as I have some bananas to use and I could slice it to carry with me.2 -
Well plans for next week have changed as our team day in the office has been cancelled for Monday so I’ll not have to make the 400 mile round trip into work. Although it would’ve been nice to see everyone I was getting slightly panicky as driving 200 miles after a full days work filled me with a bit of dread.
I had forgotten to cancel the TV licence at my former home so I’m £13.37 worse off. Needless to say that has been cancelled and the form posted back. I can’t believe you still have to post the form back to TV licensing. I really don’t understand how I forgot or why I didn’t just swap it over to my new address instead I took a new one out so I’m paying double for the first six months( but now I realise I’ll get the refund of the amount in credit)
Im hoping I’ll have some money left over when I get paid on Monday to put on my EF. I’ll also put the £800 I will be paying to my DMP once it’s set up on my EF this month. Hopefully it’ll all be set up to start the 1st April so I can start to see my debt reduced.
I have a full tank of fuel in the car as I filled up last weekend and now don’t need to go very far next week so I’ll not be spending money of fuel for a few weeks. Any savings there I’ll put to one side in the hope I can pay some extra off my DMP.( am I even allowed to do this?)
Over the past couple of days I’ve made £5.23 on surveys and have transferred that to my savings pot. Let’s hope I can keep this up - I have to say some of the surveys are really tedious but others aren’t too bad.
I’ve got all my bank accounts sorted for my pots birthday/Christmas, EF, car fund, a miscellaneous fund and savings account for anything extra I make after my wages.
Sorry for the long post but I feel I need to write this somewhere just to put it all into perspective.4 -
Tomorrow should be my day off but I’m doing an extra 5 hours of work so I’m going to be up early and at my desk by 7 so I can start my weekend early and not feel I’ve lost a whole day tomorrow. I will earn just nearly £89 for my hours tomorrow ( of course less normal deductions) so when I get paid next month I can add that to some savings. I’ve heard people talking about full and final payments being offered to companies after the debts have been defaulted for some time. I never knew there was such a thing so perhaps in 2 years time I may be in a position to offer something like that I don’t know I’ll have to read up more about it.On the extra income front I’ve made £2.47 from surveys and my friend who asked me to make her daughter a makeup bag has paid me £13. I may post it to her as I’m now not going to the office next week and at present I don’t know when I will be going.
I have started to walk a lot more this week the nights are much lighter and it even felt ‘springlike” for a little bit this afternoon.
I saw loads of purple crocuses on my walk and just remembered I planted loads in the garden from my previous life in September and I bet they’re looking fab now. Made me a little sad thinking I now don’t have a garden as i so enjoy planting seeds and watching them flourish.Had a phone call with my solicitor today and I feel my a little better as I know once everything is sorted out I can pay my debts off and perhaps be able to buy myself a little apartment as where I live now is so much cheaper and the marital home is a 5 bedroom detached property. Just seems a long way off being able to think about that as I know my ex won’t play ball and make things painless, emotionally or financially and drag everything out so I can’t see me being able to have somewhere of my own anytime soon. He is the type of person for saying I’ll do that tomorrow but tomorrow never comes.Anyway I’m off for an early night as I haven’t slept very well this week my mind is in overdrive most of the time.1 -
Hi @Hastingslass, as I understand it the F&F payments are when a person can’t pay their debt, they have defaulted and their credit is completely ruined, so a last resort solution to get rid of debt.Like you, I don’t have a garden. I was in the process of buying a little house with outdoor space where I could exercise my itchy green fingers but that fell through a week or so ago. In the meantime, I grow succulents on my windowsill. I bought a couple from Lidl, but I was also gifted a couple of leaves by friends and really enjoyed watching them grow. I would have a flat full of houseplants but one of my cats eats them, so I can’t. Even cut flowers she won’t leave alone, which is fine as I don’t like them much. It’s like watching flowers die.»The road to DF is long and bumpy » Greensaints1
