Easy Ticketing event cancellation - how can I get a refund?

Hi new to this but looking for advice…
bought 6 tickets for Craig David concert last year through Easy Ticketing and paid via PayPal. The event was rescheduled to June this year due to Covid. Received an email today from Easy Ticketing saying they have had to cancel all events. Looks like they have gone into administration. The email said to contact PayPal for refund but PayPal have refused my claim as over 180 days since transaction. Any idea how I can get a refund? There must be lots of people in the same boat as me?

  • I have the same issue. Email received referring me to PayPal or my bank but purchase was made in July 2020 for £187. How do I get a refund or have I been ripped off?

Just put this in the other long running Easy Ticketing thread.

How did paypal take payment from you? If it was via DD then there is not way to claim back as there is no non receipt on DD's.

If it was via your debit card. What was the latest date set for the concert?
When was the payment made. As the max time frame for a chargeback from debit date is 540 days. Which from todays date is the 17-08-2020 So any payment prior to that date can not be charged back. So in effect you are looking at needing the payment to be at the best in September 2020 given the timeframe for any paperwork.

  • How would I know if it’s via DD or via Debit card? Sorry if that’s a silly question!

The latest date for the concert was 6 June 2021.

What do you listed in your PayPal account as payment method?
As well as looking at your bank account (you will need to do anyway to get the correct payment date) it will tell you the payment type.

  • Have found the transaction it was 10 March 2021, has my bank Nationwide next to it so it must be a DD?
  • I’ve been in touch with Nationwide and been advised to log as a dispute for services not received. Hopefully this will resolve it. Will update on how it goes.
  • Easy Ticketing have gone bankrupt, PayPal & bank don’t want to know if payment was made 189 + days ago.
  • I have been in contact with my two banks and paypal today.
Craig David tickets because they were purchased within the time frame I should be able to get my money back from Starling.
Tickets for Martin Kemp 80s and Tropicana night - because the original purchase was in July 2020 and despite them being rescheduled due to Covid I am not able to get a refund back from Barclays.

Paypal will also not offer a refund on the tickets.

The only option is to find out who the liquidator is and apply for a refund that way but im sure they have alot bigger debtors chasing them for money so wouldnt hold my breath.

I think its absolutely disgusting that we have no protection over these kind of companies.

PayPal have a 180 day timescale.
Visa have 120 days from the date of the event for a chargeback. But if the original debit was 540 days or more ago. Then there is nothing that can be done, even if within the 120 days.
Fact retailer is not longer trading makes no difference to getting a chargeback refund. It comes from retailers merchant bank.

You do have protection available - use a credit card to pay directly (not via PayPal) and you can use Section 75 in circumstances like these. :)
