    That's really good news.

Please include the case number, the judge's name, and the name of the court so others can quote the judge's comments that VCS have no authority to issued parking charges at JLLA.

When you receive the Judge's written decision, there's much more you can do to make VCS life very uncomfortable, like a complaint to the DVLA that they are issuing charges potentially unlawfully, plus a claim against them for a breach of GDPR/DPA regulations in acquiring your personal data from the DVLA when they had no reasonable cause to do so, then continued to use it to pursue you through the courts.

Well done on your win @chrisski961
Your victory will definitely help me defend against VCS @ LJLA. Did their rep turn up not expecting to be challenged on their authority to raise PCN's and/or initiate court action, or, did they have a contract that failed to show the flow of authority from the landowner to VCS? I have seen a contract between Liverpool Airport and VCS dating back to 2013 but I don't know for certain whether it has lapsed or been extended.

I disagree with the judge.  Very few of these scam claims are suitable for mediation, you do not negotiate with lthese companies, you go head to head with them in court.t

That's long gone. Read the update from the OP
Basically the judge tore their rep to pieces and dismissed the case on the grounds that VCS didnt have the authority to impose fines on the land surrounding LJLA.

  • Be careful. It's not a parking issue. It's a No Stopping issue. VCS does have authority inside car parks.
  • Just a thought occurred to me over the weekend. The car/van that takes the no stopping pics parks near the roundabout, i have noticed that there is a box painted on the pavement (parking on a pavement is now illegal i think) and who gave authority for the box to be painted? i have also seen the van parked across the crash gate, these cannot be blocked full stop as the emergency gates are operational 24/7 and cannot be blocked or parked near.

I suggest you take photos of the camera van and send it to the airport operator, the airport fire chief and your MP. Ask the latter to forward the information to the MP where JLLA is situated as VCS are creating a serious safety issue, and are treating health and safety with disdain and contempt.
Several separate complaints with evidence from several people will have more impact than a single complaint.

There will be some legislation somewhere about this which may actually be a criminal offence.
Blocking a crash gate may breach the Civil Aviation Act 1982 and/or the Air Navigation Order 2009 or the gov.uk HSE air transport requirements, or airport byelaws.

Local and national press might be interested in an unregulated private parking company having no regard for air safety as well.

Does the van have the words, "Road Safety Vehicle" or similar with a camera logo on it? The one at Bristol Airport does, and I have dashcam footage of it parked under one of their own signs that says "No Stopping" whilst the driver waited for me to exit a car park so she could follow me. Hypocrite!

Using wording such as Road Safety Unit is misleading, and
breaches the Surveillance Camera CoP because camera filming for parking charges mustn't be covert and signs must state how the images will be used.
