Just received form N279 (Notice of discontinuance) from the C stating they are discontinuing the Court proceedings. The email also states the form has been filled with the Court. The form itself is quite simple, stating the claim no, C and D names, electronically signed by a paralegal and just a tick in a box "discontinue all of this claim". No other details are mentioned. Is there anything else I should consider doing, or this email and form is deemed "case closed"?2

check on the PPC website using your PCN no. so see if it has been cancelled.
Save the letter in case you need it later on.2 -
Well done @Furac40 for challenging this unfair PCN and winning. Just wait to also hear from the court. As predicted the PPC knew their case was on shaky ground but they were going to keep pushing you to pay. A good defence and WS finally persuaded them not to throw any more money at a hearing which on all likelihood they would have lost.
Don’t forget to keep popping back on the forum over the next few months so that you can comment on the government consultation on the new Code of Practice. Hopefully that should finally get rid of this scourge on our society.3 -

ANOTHER UKPC ONE BITES THE DUST!
And...please don't leave us yet!
Please add your success to @Umkomaas ' thread about DCBLegal discontinuances.
And as @Not_A_Hope says above:
We need you - as a genuine PPC victim of aggression, sharp practice and an 'extortion' attempt to add £70 - to respond robustly to the Public Consultation on the level of parking charges and banning of the false added DRA 'fee' that too many honest motorists currently fall victim to.
It will need consumer input (powerful voices) but change is afoot. It's taken about 5 years to get to this stage:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6333036/breaking-news-government-has-announced-the-statutory-code-of-practice-and-enforcement-framework/p1
And then the industry threw victims' money at it and blocked and delayed it - explained here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/79310609/#Comment_79310609
Please now Bookmark BOTH threads and set up email alerts on your posting profile, so that you get an email alert when we post there, as we will, once the Public Consultation opens later this year, once the new Ministers are fully appraised.
We need people like you and your driving family & friends to respond in high numbers! You have a personal story to tell about the culture of UKPC and DCBLegal cooking up an unjustified £70 for greedy profit and to sidestep the intentions of the legal fees cap in the small claims track.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

One has to ask why DCBL are allowing these daft claims by UKPC to drag them into the gutter ??1

The large majority, by far, of the claims filed by DCBL result in money being sent to them - either before a court case by scared victims or from cases not defended successfully.
Although most of the DCBL claims we see here are easily batted into the long grass, this really is a tiny proportion of those issued.3 -
Yep and I suspect that at least the fake added £70 is retained by DCBLegal (usually in multiples, as most cases - the ones we see at least - involve multi PCNs inflicted on authorised honest drivers at residential locations where they are allowed to be).
They might well even retain more, and just return £60 per PCN to the PPC. I wouldn't be surprised; it's like a 'grey' form of factoring debt, where the creditor gets an agreed minimum sum.
So on an average case, it is believed that DCBLegal bank hundreds. For one or two automated letters.
This is why and how they boasted in Parking Review of recently doubling in size.
It's nothing to do with parking charges. This is money for old rope, from the most vulnerable in Society who can least afford it.
Such as elderly residents, those for whom English isn't their first language or just credulous people who don't Google it and just knee-jerk pay it, thinking that a PCN is a fine and that DCBLegal can 'Take it Away'.
Given that TEN MILLION private PCNs are issued per annum, just do the maths.
Make no mistake - the Roboclaim industry needs stopping far more than the parking industry.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
