@Gerry1
There only seems to be one tank (covered in rigid insulating material) but with 2 switches but will investigate further next time I'm there.
Sadly impossible to get gas as it's in a block of flats which is all electric. It's the 4th floor (or 2nd, depending on which side of the hill you're on) of a retirement block.

It should be one tank with two immersion heaters. The one at the bottom will warm the whole tank, and should run on E7 overnight.The top one only heats the top of the tank and is used as an emergency boost if you run out of hot water. It should normally be off.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Thank you - it maybe that they're both behind the insulation. There's two switches so maybe the one w/out the red light is the E7 one and the one with the red light is the emergency boost.0

[Deleted User] said:Hi,do you really need a storage heater in bedroom releasing heat during the day?Another problem is that an old-style NSH may make a bedroom too warm at night when it's charging. Less of a problem with new HHR ones, but if heating is needed overnight then fan noise could be a problem.Panel heaters may be the answer provided that the bedroom gets some overspill heat from the main NSHs and the bedrom is not used as a study or for working at home.2

Hi all! Thank you for your help.
Update, and further questions, please !🙏
We had an electrician in and the storage heaters had been switched off at the mains which is why they weren't storing heat. The electrician switched them on and next morning everywhere was toasty warm. We switched everything off as we only stay here 2-3 days every 3-4 weeks.
Arrived for a visit yesterday and switched inputs on at wall and on heater (Medium setting) on expecting everything to be warm this morning but...
The storage/convector only seems to give out heat when the convector is on, so I'm wondering now whether when the electrician helped us test them, the convector was inadvertently left on.
[The small storage only heater in the bedroom is fine and is outputting heat.]
Soooo, my main question is:
On the wall there is a cabled switch, which I'm assuming is the storage input, and I left on overnight (together with the input rocker switches on the actual heater). There is also a socket with a plug from the heater plugged in - I assumed this was the convector and left this off overnight as I don't want to use the convector. Am I right in those assumptions, or should I have left the socket with plug in switched on as well for the input storage to work, please?

photos of the plugs/switches.

The convector heater should work with the hardwired wall switch off as they’re two seperate supplies.
The plug would be on a 24hr ring main so as long as that circuit is on, convector should work.1
