Storad Storage Heaters
Options
Hi! In the process of moving into 1-bed flat. There is a storage/convector heater (a Storad SRC 252-1) in lounge, for which I've found instructions online,
and a smaller storage only heater back-to-back with it on the bedroom wall. This is a Storad SR 200-1 but I can find no mention of this model online. It just has a cable into the wall with a switch and one silver dial/knob. I know nothing about storage heaters but I'm wondering if this one sort of 'piggy backs' off the one in the lounge, directly on the other side of the wall?
The only heat we can get (having switched them on overnight to store up heat), is via the connector heater in the lounge Storad 252-1 so I'm assuming the storage part of the radiator doesn't work.
I'm just trying to research them so I have a more informed idea of what the situation (regards repair/replacement costs) before I contact an electrician.
Any advice is welcome, thank you!

Bemahan said:The PDF to which I linked says that the SRC Range is asbestos free. No reason to believe that the heaters are linked. The Storad SRC 252-1 should be easy to fix. Start by checking that the E7 supply hasn't tripped out. Does the (lower) immersion heater work? If the E7 supply is OK it's likely to be something simple such as a failed fusible link, or the manual reset button may need to be pressed. All simple stuff and inexpensive, but don't try it yourself if you're unsure about electrical safety precautions.1

You might need a licensed asbestos contractor, then.
On the plus side if you get it removed and safely disposed of, you can replace it with a storage heater that both keeps you warm and won't potentially cause you and your family mesothelioma.Bemahan said:I can't think of any reason why the SR would be slaved to the SRC, particularly given that it has its own electrical supply. Is the SR of a size that it could be full of bricks? If you peer (carefully) into the vents can you see bricks? It's possible that there's an electrical fault with the SR and the previous owner was unable to get it fixed due to the asbestos.N. @Gerry1 So sorry - didn't realise that the bold meant a link
There seems to be one hot water tank with two switches on the wall. I've been assuming that the one with the red light it is the immersion and that works ok. Haven't tested whether the water heats o/night.
Unfortunately we're still living 100 miles away from the flat but will be up there again in a couple of weeks so will check out whether the E7 has tripped - didn't think about that.
We had a Visual Inspection done of the electrics before buying and were planning to have work done at some point but may have to bring that forward and get the heaters checked too. Hopefully at least the SRC-252 is repairable.
The cost of having asbestos removed and new heaters installed may well be more than the flats worth!
Will take a good look at your link now.
Thanks again.

According to the document Gerry1 linked to, the SRC models are asbestos-free.I can't think of any reason why the SR would be slaved to the SRC, particularly given that it has its own electrical supply. Is the SR of a size that it could be full of bricks? If you peer (carefully) into the vents can you see bricks? It's possible that there's an electrical fault with the SR and the previous owner was unable to get it fixed due to the asbestos.0

Lower immersion heater - E7 circuit - full tank at cheap(er) rate. Leave ON when in residence.Upper immersion heater - 24h circuit - half tank in emergency at expensive day rate. Leave OFF.Is it absolutely impossible to get mains gas?1
