Oh wow Piggers, is that for the quarter? Is it based on estimates or actual readings?
Mademoiselle get that frog eaten lass!
Jazee lovely to ‘see’ you, you sound happy x
Busy but lovely day here. It’s bright and sunny which always helps (albeit still very very windy). Got lots of little bits done, had a lovely chat with a friend, dried some washing outside and generally pottered. I’ve lit the fire now and we will get cosy after school.
Question - skirting boars. Basically we have none upstairs. I have priced it up and we’re taking a good £400 at least due to how much we will need, plus I’d have to pay someone to fit it.
Is skirting a necessity? Do bedrooms look daft without it? Honest answers only please. Asked my mum but her house is so perfect she is the absolute wrong person to ask - she is astounded that we manage without a downstairs loo😂

Piggers it that for a month and an actual reading.ASB IMO you don't need skirting boards, but it does finish off a room, where the floor meets the wall, especially if the room is out 'of true' and will cut any wall drafts out.2 cats frontlined, cat3 to do, OH's job tonight when the cat comes for his strokes.Dusting doneBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

asb, if you're not bothered by the lack of skirting, you could fit quadrant beading around the edge of the room yourself (similar to what fitters do with laminate flooring) - it will cover the gap between the bottom of the wall plaster and the floorboards. You'll need a sharp saw and a mitre box for cutting the corners, but even factoring in the cost of the timber (which has rocketed recently) the cost is likely to be well below that of full skirting board. Not much use if you have to get the walls plastered down to the floor, though! Have you checked the price of MDF skirting as well as solid timber?
pigpen !!!!!!!!!
I have spent all day preparing for safeguarding training part 2 tomorrowThe decorator has nearly finished the lounge, though

Thanks girls.
Alas Iona that is the cost for MDF, not solid timber. The absolute priority in this house is getting the grotty bathroom sorted, so a few hundred pounds is better put towards that.
I know wood is so expensive now, like many things it’s just sky rocketed xx

Thanks for the kick ASB, note written, checked 3 times and delivered. With regards to skirting boards, no not necessary, we don't have them in the bathrooms but walls tiled to the floor and just have a bit of beading (like a quarter of a circle) between floorboards and walls. Also for the bathroom, if you know any plumbers ask them to keep a look out for bathroom things that can be reused, my in laws had a new bathroom a few years ago and they had to buy the bath even though they only wanted the shower, loo and sink. It was even delivered to them and they had to get rid of it (actually full of water plants), but they were furious about having to have it and would have happily given it to anyone who wanted.
Several euros decluttered for pellet stove service but so worth it for what we save on gas.
Oh dear, my white cat has obviously not been respecting social distancing with the man who came to service the pellet stoves and sweep the flues! He's filthy!

17-10-21 to 3-2-22 the bill.. amazing isn't it?? So just over a quarter.
ASB .. skirtings in my house are utterly pointless.. you can't even see them in almost every room in the house.. a bit of quadrant would do or bung up holes with caulk and pain to match the walls.

Hi all
Skirting boards are a nice to finish off a room I suppose but a lot of the time they are covered by furniture. I would rather put the money towards sprucing up the bathroom if it was me ASB.
Tired tonight, busy few days at the paid stuff. Strength training this morning and a brisk walk at lunchtime. Really hungry at the moment which usually means that the thyroid is a bit out of sync.
Not much flying done, the house isnt too bad. DH has been doing bits. Making plans to take a couple of days off work next week and meet up with family which will be nice.
Pigpen that's horrendous, I thought our bills were bad.

Spoke to my mum on the phone this eve; her monthly gas and electric has just gone up from £36 to £89....and they say she is £200 in arrears which must be a calculation as she is never behind. Hers was one of the companies which went bust, so she was allocated another. She is really frugal too.
Boiler company came this week; checked boiler and said no fault - he suspects the pump. Helpfully he noticed it had 'manufactured 2011' on it......!!!!!!, it was supposedly new when they fitted it not a year ago. Local firm (who installed it all last year) re-summoned so watch this space.
today:
- picked foliage for drum tutor's arrangement, put it in to condition
- did body pump.
- Got to uni early and picked up a ticket for the queue to see the help desk as my ID swipe card has packed up. Waited about 20mins, was just summoned only to be told that they would have to make me a new ID card. Said sorry but I have a student arriving in the next 5 mins. Lady very apologetic, I said it wasn't her fault there were teems of students with problems with their housing/grants/courses etc to be sorted out. Went back down after the assessment and of course they were closed.
- came home via C00p as GF bread on offer. Sadly tempted by a very reduced (£1.12 from £3.50) gf belgian chocolate cake....I don't need the calories plus it had some potato starch in which I can usually resist without difficulty; however it has been that sort of week so I bought it......bad move. It wasn't as nice as it looked so now I'm bemoaning the calories and waiting to see if I get stomach cramps from the potato. Stupid.
- did flower arrangement.
- made a pizza for dinner
- slobbed out. Should have been packing to go to my Mum's tomorrow eve; doing drum practice or writing reports. Did none of them. Sigh.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.11 -
