  • Okay, its been a while since I updated. Managed a £250 overpayment in August and £150 so far for September. We've had a holiday and Mr F had a health scare so not as frugal as we could have been for the last 2 months.

    In better news, I'm getting a pay rise in October and there is a possibility of promotion for Mr F. I've gotten used to managing our budget and saving on a stable income for a long period of time. It feels weird that our income is now going up when there's a cost of living crisis.

  • Yes but also remember that you're in the middle of an industry wide retention crisis as well - your pay should be going up at least with inflation right now because you're a rare and valuable resource!

  • True. My wages have effectively been static for 10 years (part of the reason for the retention crisis). They increased when I moved to management last year but I've just signed off on the new pay rise for clinical staff and its going to be a significant jump for a lot of us.

    Right, September's accounts done and total overpayment of £255. It could have been better but given the stress we've been dealing with I'm happy with it.
    YNAB updated and October's budget set. Meter readings submitted yesterday and heating finally back on as the rain lashing down and the wind picking up. It's properly Autumn now :)

  • We went out to the local shopping centre as Mr F had lost his sunglasses and I needed to get a present for a new baby. Sunglasess only needed for driving right now so replaced with a bargain pair from Decathalon.
     We treated ourselves to lunch but opted for a burger rather than more expensive usual Wagamamma's. What struck us both is how quiet things were. It's the Saturday after payday for most people here and I would say about a third of the usual number of people I would expect. Lots of empty shops with no signs of being filled. I think people are really starting to economise.

    Sadly, i think you're right SH.

    I'm full of the cold today so stayed in and managed an NSD. Got 2 loads of laundry done and mostly dry outside. The rest is hanging up indoors. Have batch cooked a pork and apple stew and enough left to freeze.
