I was reading the Financial Times yesterday and even after liz truss’s plans were mentioned experts still think BOE will put up rates considerably over the next 6 months. A 0.75% increase isn’t out of the question next week .
I think "even after"should read "especially after"

Can I ask if anyone has recently opened the Shawbrook Fixed One Year Bond. It states a minimum contribution is £1,000 but it looks like you are only able to make one contribution. So it seems whatever sum you want to invest has to be transferred as a single contribution. Appreciate any help. Tried calling Shawbrook but long waiting time.

Does it state you can only make one, single minimum £1000 deposit, though ? As far as I can see, it only stipulates a £1000 minimum opening balance and there is no requirement to make that in one go.

I opened one of their 6 month fixed rate accounts a few month ago and made multiple deposits into it (including a £1 test deposit) without any issues.

there were a couple of posts on the previous page that said they deposited £1 and then made further deposits - so I don't think it's a one-time only deposit and i'm not seeing anything in the t&c that states that it is.
  • I too put a £1 in , then £1000 and then multiple amounts in the last week.

@Hal17I've just remembered that Shawbrook actually allow deposits to be made up until the product is withdrawn from sale (and for 7 days afterwards) rather than the usual 1-2 week funding window I mentioned in a previous post, which is the norm when you open a fixed rate account with most other banks. This also proves that you're not limited to one, single opening deposit with Shawbrook.

From their T&Cs... "Once Your account is open and subject to the account conditions in the Key Product Information You can make additional deposits to Your account at any time from Your Nominated Account, until the product to which that account relates is closed to new applications (which You can check on the “Withdrawn Products” section of Our Website) or additional funding (which You can check in the Key Product Information)"

Can't transfer between Shawbrook accounts. Have to move the money via my nominated current account.
I transferred money from my Shawbrook EA into my 6 month bond....

You can send a secure message asking them to move the money?

Thanks, would have been quicker and more straightforward! I actually thought about doing that, no idea why I didn't, doh!
  • it seems the 3.5% 1-Yr fix via Raisin has been withdrawn.
