I opened an (at the time) market leading 2yr fix at 3.03% with them in June last year. They sent me a temporary user id in the post and a temporary password by email according to the opening letter I have. With that information I was able to access the self service portal and then download and use the mobile app (the latter i've not bothered with). My first annual interest was available last month and i've not needed to speak to anyone yet.

As I have previously lost banking statements etc in the post that is why I want to do online banking but you don’t know until you have input all your details, for an account, that it will take up to a week (waiting for postal items) to actually open the account.
Can these banks/building societies please put on their opening account page what their particular procedure is so that we potential customers can decide if we want to wait for a deluge of items in the post.
That said at 6.2% I hope that once it is opened, I wont need any more contact until maturity in a year’s time.
I do get annoyed that we are being bombarded from all directions about saving the planet and then receive copious bits of paper and leaflets through our doors each day!
Save the trees by not sending unnecessary info through the post please!1 -

Re-reading the first communication I received it refers to a Welcome Pack in the post, and that they would be in touch in a couple of days, so I assumed that the info for opening the account would be in Welcome Pack.
Anyway the online account itself looks very intuitive and well laid out so let’s hope that after funding all will be okay and at a good rate of interest.0 -
Ive opened the Castle Trust Bank one year esaver all done online, user ID and password created whilst applying, first time I logged in I had to change the user ID otherwise everything was well designed1

I applied for the FirstSave account last week and the docs they asked for are in the post. Since the account isn't available anymore, will they still accept my application? I hope that since I have an email from them and they asked for more ID I'm still okay.

I've also decided to go for the Castle Trust bank 1 year and like everyone else it all seemed fairly slick. 14 day funding window, all account details provided already. Will see what tomorrow brings, but happy to fund this one otherwise I reckon.1
