It's nice of Shawbrook to offer a 7 year bond, but why would anyone fix their money for 7 years at just 3.36% if you can fix that money for only 5 years elsewhere and get even higher return? In fact, top 4 year bonds at the moment give nearly the same return as Shawbrook's 7 year bond. So what's the point?
The top 4 year bonds are paying 5.75%, so nearly 2.5% higher than the Shawbrook 7 year bond. You'd only buy the 7 year bond if you thought rates were going to crash in around 5 year's time, but even then you'd be losing out on interest for 5 of the 7 years. Can't see the point myself.

Interesting that all the 6% gang like Charter, JN Bank and others have pulled their bonds. Same with Kent who had 5.92% and 5.94% for 1 and 2 year.

Have we peaked? Will be interesting to see how they reboot their bonds, as surely they can't go long without any offering at all?

But you can still get 6%+ from Al Rayan and Close Brothers. I opened a 1 year fix at 6.01% with Al Rayan yesterday.

  • Opened the Al Rayan 1 year fix to lock it in as it has a 60 day funding window. Money is already in the Easy Access account with them but dont want to fund it just yet

It really is true about Smartsave and their 0.01% adjustments.... I keep refreshing their page in hope of seeing 6% so that I can place my investment.... but they have just updated from 5.93% to 5.94%.... come on Smartsave! Do better than that!

OakNorth upped their two year today but not to table topping, it does look(for now) like a slight slowing

Obviously Close Brothers got all the funds they needed as their 1 and 2 yr fixes at 6.05% are NLA.

Bonds aren’t lasting as long as they were up until now
