I didn't say it was the highest rate available at the time, I said that I had fixed at that. At the time, it was my first fix and I was new to the concept, so took one with an organisation I already had an account with. There's no point in trying to correct something that is an indisputable fact. But it's worked out fine for me, as I get monthly interest paid out which I now put into a regular saver at 7.5% so I'll make up some ground.bristolleedsfan said:
3.2% was available 8th August for 1 year fix, Charter were offering 4.27% on 6th October, rates went higher and higher after that .....BooJewels said:TiVo_Lad said:BooJewels said:
That's good, thanks - 5.3% is nice (well 5.18 monthly, which is my preference) - a few more ice creams on my holibobs. I'm in the market for some new fixes and Vanquis and Charter are the two at the top of my personal shortlist. And thanks to @Matt17 for confirmation about funding the Vanquis fix. I was just dashing out and it was lazy posting to ask really, as I had the T&C open, but hadn't yet read it all. I thought limiting it to one transfer might rule it out - for me.jaypers said:Charter now updated……
1 Year 5.23%
18 Months 5.25%
2 Year 5.30%I think as more and more banks introduce payment limits, it becomes increasingly difficult to only allow people to make a single transfer.5.3% is now a full 1% above what I fixed at in January. This is really starting to hurt.
5.3% is 2% more than I fixed at last October -0 -
I've had deposits with them for a while now, and my only gripe has been that it didn't seem possible to transfer money internally from an instant access account to a fixed account. I've just managed to do that even though the T&C's imply that I should have had to send the cash back to my Nominated account and back again to Charter (which I think is absurd but which also seems to be common with these smaller banks). So that's very welcome.jaypers said:Charter now updated……

It may still be that when a fixed term account matures you may have to send the money back to your Nominated account even if you want to invest the money in another Charter account. But hopefully this niggle is slowly being ironed out with the regulatory authorities (anyone better informed know more about this?)0 -
You can transfer internally between accounts. I’ve done this now a few times when opening fixes with them. Also pretty much immediate.PragueAddick said:

You need to select the maturity options for the fixed term account, you can then tell them what account you want to transfer the funds to, this includes the option to send the interest to a different account to the one the fixed term money is going to. I’ve done exactly this just a couple of days agoPragueAddick said:

I’ve just opened a Raisin account - mainly so I don’t have to look at more banking apps - I have Atom, Leeds BS, Shawbrook and OakNorth already…the latter 3 are all ISAs fixed - the Atom is a 12m fixed…I need some in easy access as I no longer work but happy to fix for 1-2 years, are the Al Rayan account reliably paying the expected rates? Never had an account like these before

Opened the Vanquis 1 Year Fixed Bond last night expecting to be able to fund it straight away but apparently you can't fund it until a letter arrives in the post which is going to be next week now. That's a bit annoying. Last time I opened an account with them a few years back you could deposit immediately.0

If it appears in your online account list then there is nothing to stop you funding it straight away. I opened an account yesterday and it's showing in the list this morning.BigBlueSky said:Opened the Vanquis 1 Year Fixed Bond last night expecting to be able to fund it straight away but apparently you can't fund it until a letter arrives in the post which is going to be next week now.
