Thank you all for your comments and advice. Yes it is the data that I have given, bank account sort code/account no , copy of driving license and utility bill plus of course name, date, date if birth and address. I am not usually so gullible but they are clever in copying official websites. I will have to be on my guard for further phishing emails or phone calls. By the way the sort code they gave me to send money would go through wise bank and looking at them made me feel suspicious as they seem to be currency exchangers and sending money all over the world.i am trying to phone Aldermore to give them a heads up but they are not answering quickly.

There's an email address on their website under https://www.aldermore.co.uk/security/ for reporting scams etc. financial.crime@aldermore.co.uk which *might* get to somebody a bit faster.

Don't worry, you're not the first and definitely won't be the last to be caught out in this way. At least you've sussed the scam before sending them any money, but that list of information and documents you've given them presumably puts you at real risk of identity theft so it could be worth seeking advice on that ASAP, although I'm not sure what you could actually do about it ? If I was in your position, I would definitely be shifting funds away from that bank account just in case.

  • I’ve let aldermore know and their fraud team have had a few calls alerting them today. They are trying to close the scam website down as soon as possible. I’m contacting actionfraud now.

Just be wary and monitor your current account for suspicious activity as they may try to set up direct debits with your account number and sortcode if they also have your name. address and email address. Double check your email for "confirmations" possibly related to attempts to set up payments. https://www.directdebit.co.uk/direct-debit-explained/organisation-unknown/

Ford Money have withdrawn the last of their Fixed Savers today (2 years @ 4.70%)

However - I've just spotted that all three of their recent Fixed Savers are still available to existing customers, the other two being 1 year @ 4.45% and 5 years @ 4.95%. Both of those are higher than anything else currently available for those terms, if you're an existing customer and still looking to fix.

Hampshire Trust Bank 3.5% for six months. The account application was very easy - it opened immediately. One negative: the lack of multifactor authentication.
  • Hi, Ive recently opened a Gatehouse and a Ford  Money fixed savings account, i did google to make sure they werent linked, but they are literally identical in set up, letters are word for word, accounts look exactly the same etc Are they linked?
