As above: can anyone elaborate on where you can find the interest rate for a (funded) Charter account?happybagger said:
I've got an deposit showing but can't find an interest rate showing anywhere. Where does it show please? I've been across all the tabs. Like others, not keen on further deposits until I see the rate.janusdesign said:Charter showing the wrong rate when logging in to the site is not unusual (and has been discussed previously in the thread) - I wouldn't worry about it (it happened with me months ago)... they usually fix it within a day or two (and backdate the interest to the correct rate).
Cheers.
It seems to appear - and hopefully correct - the day after you make the initial minimum payment. It also then shows the maturity date - the anniversary of the first deposit. The interest payment date is another mystery though.1 -
At least some of the savings providers who operate same Newcastle B.S online system namely Gatehouse and Charter do allow for change of interest instructions during fixed term. I think I have seen mention of Vanquis Bank as well.badger09 said:
That would be highly unusual. With a Fixed rate/Fixed term account, ALL the T&Cs usually apply for the whole term.Topiary said:Hi with the TSB fixed rate savings paying monthly is it at all possible to change mid term the way interest is paid? i.e. go from paid monthly away/ annualy away or at end of term. thanks
You could, though, split your deposit and open 2 accounts. Opt for monthly interest on one, and annual interest on the other, which would achieve approx the same result1 -
Yes, Vanquis do allow the change via the "Amend" button0

I am not having a good week with setting up a fixed term savings account!
Tandem have dropped their 4.5% rate to 4.25% for a 1 year account
Ikano let me fill in all the forms and read all the documents before telling me that the 4.5% account (still on their front page) is no longer open
Smart Save (read all the documents) are unable to verify my bank account with Nationwide probably because I opened it before 1998
Kent Reliance (read all the documents) are unable to verify my bank account with Nationwide - probably because I opened it before 1998 but doesn't actually tell me why.
I think I'm going to take a break and try again tomorrow0 -
thanks 2 accounts good ideabadger09 said:

Despite talking to them on the phone yesterday afternoon, my Charter Savings Bank fixed 2 year savings account is still saying 4.6%.Unimpressed.0

Atom 1 year fixed just opened here - we already have a 9 month fix with them, the plan is to leave the 1 year unfunded until next week hoping we see what effect the autumn statement tomorrow has, if any. At least then if rates do fall we have it locked in.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just opened another Charter 2 year bond as an existing customer for that very reason - had already opened any funded one a week ago, but it starts another 14 day 'funding window' to see what happens, one eye on tomorrow and the market response, and another eye on rates from 1 Dec (14 days takes it to 30 Nov).2

I opened a 6 month Atom one tonight, as a holding account for my 2023-24 ISA balance. Then tried to pay money in from Santander - wasn't able to do this as Santander insisted that the Atom account number was invalid. Hope this will sort itself sometime tomorrow.EssexHebridean said:Atom 1 year fixed just opened here - we already have a 9 month fix with them, the plan is to leave the 1 year unfunded until next week hoping we see what effect the autumn statement tomorrow has, if any. Did it insist that the account number was invalid, or that the payee details did not match?
I doubt very much whether Santander would know all of Atom's account numbers tbh.
You can override the former.0
