(I’ve also seen a lady use a salad spinner to spin her smalls).

The best way I've found to get excess water out of handwashed items is to wrap them in a towel and jump up and down on them!
Presumably you then need to wash and dry the said towel?

When showering we turn off the water after wetting hair, shampoo, turn the shower back on to rinse, turn it off to wash the body (using a shower scrunchie which saves on bodywash), back on again to wash off the bodywash, job's a goodun.
Can you not do shampoo and body wash in the same operation and save even more?
Maybe you don't but hair doesn't need washing too often, I just dampen it and put conditioner on sometimes, shorter shower.

Very much depends on your individual hair. There isn't a one size fits all.
If I don't wash mine every other day it goes visibly lank and greasy.
In fact if I do it say Monday morning and Wednesday evening, my hair will have already started to degrade by the time I'm in the shower.
I'd happily wash it less if I could get away with it, but I can't!

i plait my hair in different interesting ways when my hair goes lank.  i leave my hair 10 days in between washes since retiring. It has gone very fine since menopause.  If i am seeing anyone I just give it a squirt of perfume along middle parting.

Depends on your hair type and style. Mine's only short so doesn't take much washing, but it needs restyling as it goes a bit mad overnight.

I notice MSE Martin's top fuel saving tip follows the good advice in this thread: heat the person and not the space!
