that’s why I wondered if a pressure cooker or multi cooker was more sealed and so less smells escaping… I guess a pressure cooker isn’t on for 8 hours in any case.
have limited storage space so unsure whether a pressure cooker is worth the space, when a slow cooker does the job and cheaper than the hob… just need to put up with feeling hungry from the smellsworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?4 -
I have a electric pressure cooker (too frightened of the stove top ones after warnings of exploding ones during HE at school) and I only notice the slight smell when I release the pressure and only in the kitchenLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin7

Bought myself a little air fryer yesterday. Tried making chips & they came out well. I live alone so heating the whole oven to roast a chicken breast was wasteful before, never mind now. With that, slowcooker, George Foreman grill & steamer pans i can’t see myself needing the electric oven much anymore. The gas hob will be used more for steaming.I’m lucky I’m still on a cheap fixed tariff until June. After that my bills will more than double. I’ll be making sure my meter readings are in before that tariff ends!10

Is this the right place to ask about halogen ovens? I've got one and have recently started using it.My question is regarding the bulbs. ISTR reading somewhere recently that halogen bulbs are being phased out in favour of LEDs. So 2 questions really!1) Does this just apply to lightbulbs or cookers too?2) Should I get a spare while they're still around?ThanksA budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Another here using the oven less and less. Only really use it when I do a roast on Sunday as I like to roast a load of veg as well but if I'm just doing a joint then it's either the air fryer or the slow cooker or Remoska depending on what it is.

I bought a maxi health grill, the stealthy one New Year, had an instant pot, slow cooker and the stealthy 15 in 1 already, I have noticed a definite decrease in energy consumption, smart meter, awaiting my quarterly bill now, I have not used my gas oven since, but use the hob as normal, in fact I haven`t used the 15 in 1 either, I steam or pressure cook in the instant pot, the maxi grill bakes, roasts, air fries etc and I think it`s a very useful piece of kit.Do I need it or just want it.4

A while back, I noticed my gas oven needed a new gasket and sparker thing! Minimum cost approx £80 including labour.
A new mini electric oven was £30 on sale. so I brought one as I also live on my own. Best thing I did. The gas oven is used as storage lol and along with the mini-oven, my slow cooker, microwave and air fryer, I have cut my consumption of energy right down.
I was given a small TV by my daughter so once I have eaten and cleaned up I go to bed and watch tv or read. so my Heating goes on for a max of 30 minutes a day. and only if I feel cold. I find the actual temperature doesn't equate to how cold I feel .today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.
