Well saidmongoose2009 said:the govt is gonna take out a £200 loan on my behalf eh?
ok but what happens when the gas prices stay high?
another £200 loan?
and another?
heres a idea bin the green bollox from your stupid wife and start fracking
and start to build nuclear power stations
so we can get to energy independence by 2030
not zero carbon that cannot ever be achieved with windmills that only work
30% of the time AT BEST0 -
Look at what fracking has done to houses in the Groningen area of the Netherlands. They are paying thousands to people in compensation and are stopping fracking completely shortly. It's not a good idea.mongoose2009 said:the govt is gonna take out a £200 loan on my behalf eh?

If the prices are going up because of the international wholesale price of gas, why has my electricity bill almost doubled when it is allegedly from 100% renewable sources i.e. wind, water and biomass????

And what do you think is burnt to generate that electricity? Answer: fossil fuels.wittynamegoeshere said:Andy1T said:All this talk and hype about those fortunate to live in a home with mains gas and/or electricity. What about a price cap for the significant numbers of people living in rural homes who MUST use oil or natural gas?Nobody MUST use any fossil fuel. We're 100% electric. Have you looked at heat pumps?
Despite the rise, heating your home with gas is still much cheaper than electricity. And as far as heat pumps go, they are being overhyped, they don't heat your home as efficiently, still need electricity to run and are grossly expensive and out of the price range of most people.
All this Green nonsense needs to stop until we have cheap, affordable and efficient technologies that make it practical.

We already do, nuclear, solar PV and wind are already affordable and efficient, they are cheaper per kWh than fossil fuels. France has generated the vast majority of it's energy with nuclear for decades, has cheaper electricity, is not reliant on foreign gas and regularly exports electricity to the UK as well as other European counties.c_smith said:

Green is not nonsense, it is not more expensive and is ultimately the way forward.9 -
im all for nuclear but calling it "green" is a stretch when we cant really do anything other than bury the waste. Solar and Wind are great but we need more reliable mass storage for overnight lull or overcapacity periods - be that stored air or reservoir. Even H2 cracking would be better than nothing.0

It is interesting to compare the UK’s approach to that of Norway:It is a pity that the UK squandered all the money that we made from North Sea oil and gas.2

My fixed energy has come to a end today I was paying £55 a month for which works out at about £700-£800 for the year and the cheapest one is £1750 fixed should go on to standers rate or go to fixed ?0

So what happens to the "loan" if you die, move house or change provider within 5 yrs?2
