News: Energy bills to rise by £700/yr for many | Chancellor unveils up to £350 households support

On the upside, the £200 loan will cover the increase in s/c's and next year I get the £200 winter fuel payment, which hopefully will go up a bit to cover the £40 loan payback and s/c increase BUT basically, in my case, it is govn money going straight into the greedy hands of the energy companies. The net £120 council bill payback will probably cover the increase in the actual cost of gas/electric as I am a low user.Next year the govn needs to cut council tax by £500 and then freeze it. And as soon as energy prices fall, standing charges need to be eliminated whilst payment for new solar installations need to be much higher than 5p kwh0

And what council services would you like to cut to make up for the shortfall?3

Taxes in the UK need to rise not be cut, if we want decent services then we need to pay for them.wrf12345 said:On the upside, the £200 loan will cover the increase in s/c's and next year I get the £200 winter fuel payment, which hopefully will go up a bit to cover the £40 loan payback and s/c increase BUT basically, in my case, it is govn money going straight into the greedy hands of the energy companies. If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
That all has to be paid for, which means increased borrowing, increased taxes or reductions in spending elsewhere, it is a pretty poor deal for the country.MouldyOldDough said:I get £140 (to be raised to £150) Warm Homes Discount - alreadyIn addition - in the Autumn - an additional £300 - things dont look as bad as predicted0 -
