I understand my mother has asked for 3 weeks between exchange and completion to find somewhere to rent. Her buyer's buyer has tried to push for a smaller gap but I support my mother's view that from going on market she has always stated she needs time to find a rental.May you find your sister soon Helli.

This is tricky but if its any consolation the value of the property will have increased since you agreed a price in September? No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -
They can't do that after exchange, they are legally contracted. They would lose a large amount of moneydizzyduch said:

Yes - part of the exchange is completion date agreed by everyone in the chain. So you'll have a definite completion date when you exchange contracts. Hope that gives some peace of mind!Scotbot said:

Oh, I thought they couldn’t keep asking to extend completion dates.Scotbot said:

so, if they can’t extend once we settle on a mutually agreed date, then it would make sense to exchange asap and put in place a date0 -
They can change dates right up to the point you exchange but once exchange has happened they are tied to whatever completion date is set. If it's 4 weeks it is 4 weeks or they lose their deposit and all the feesdizzyduch said:

Hence my earlier suggestion to exchange asap with completion (say) 4 weeks ahead. That should be a decent compromise.dizzyduch said:

Sooo…vendors have said they can’t find anywhere to rent or buy! They have asked how long can they have to find a place to buy??!
We’re wondering if we should pull out now because this uncertainty could potentially carry on for months ?
Or do we exchange giving till end of April, that’s when our mortgage offer expires
Or do we just exchange without a date at all and continue to wait? (We love this house)
Is there a risk they may ask for more money when we finally get to complete?
fed up now …0
