It's getting tough out there. Feeling the pinch?

I have an old laundry basket full of scarves, hats, etc. Whenever I get a scarf, etc. I just chuck it in there, ready for winter. At the start of the cold weather, dds and husband look through it to pick 'this year's scarf, etc', I remove the too small items for donation, and the basket goes to the attic. It's close at hand for whenever we need a spare of something. This was very useful when dds were of an age that they regularly lost these items; I'm counting on the number of items lessening in the next few years (they are 15 and 12).

Definitely got a brew going here, I'll make an extra one for you Ming. 

I'm feeling a lot better than last week, which is good. There's been lots of soup.

It may be time for me to dig out my big coat, I've been making do with a raincoat for the few times I've been out as it's been so damp, but this week is forecast to be cold and dry on the one day I do have to go out, so might even need my gloves.

I have enough in the cupboards for a good few weeks yet, but I'm off to stay at my DDs for a few day this week so once the fresh stuff is used ,or I take it with me I've got no shopping really to buy for at least a week or so.

I'm just catching up with posts so a bit late to this, but I wonder if this was what I knew as a child as 'Rough Custard'?  I've googled the name and nothing came up, but I remember having Rough Custard quite a few times as a pudding as a child in Scotland in the 1980s. Haven't thought about it in years!

Elsien you made me smile and also remember that my Auntie, who is quite short, once fell into her chest freezer and couldn't get out. She had to wait till my uncle realised she was missing!

We had a similar thing called Rice Creamola as kids in the 60s/70s/80s and I can remember making it for my eldest in 1986.

Welcome back Ming! I have often wondered what happened to you. JackieO is back as you probably know and others come and go as the need arises. We are now so posh the tea is sometimes replaced with kombucha (homemade and frugal of course!) As for me I have been lingering in lurkdom for a couple of years…..
