Throw another one into the mix - same product (example: maple syrup) in one bottle is measured in grams and in another bottle is in mls! I know 1ml is 1g for water but it all depends on the density of the contents so this is far from an exact conversion and not really helpful. Why can't manufacturers all use the same unit of measurement?
When I woke this morning the time on the clock in the bedroom was flashing indicating we'd had a power cut. I'd been for a loo break at about 6am and everything was fine then as it was when I got up at 8.15am. We had two texts from Northern Powergrid - the first one estimated restoration of power by 9.15 am and the second one confirmed power back on at 7.40am. So, only a short break (unexpected problem rather than planned maintenance) but I shall be on edge all day now!

I think we are all having to become mathematical genius's at the moment .I'm OK because I'm still eating from cupboards as my appetite isn't very great anyway I'm reasonably happy, but no doubt as time goes on and I recover I will be noticing to increases more. I do very little shopping at the present time thank goodness.
I have a bit more wriggle room in my freezer but I'm happy with that as I like to try and run my freezer down before Christmas and hopefully defrost it then have one big shop that will carry me through the winter months. I did actually have a fancy for those cod in parsley sauce fish things during the week so I had a walk over to my little local tesco's and got four in a pack One actually with veg is more than enough for me at the moment but I did notice that it was £6.00 for four As I haven't bought them for probably well over a year I can't remember how much they used to be but I don't think they were that price ,but as with veg it will give me four meals I guess its not too bad. My grandson 's spuds in my veg box are still doing OK and I have a fair bit of frozen veg to use up as well.

Following on from earlier comments I found this article in the Daily Mail today. It makes interesting reading.

I heard someone on Dr Chatterjee's podcast talking about extra virgin olive oil and saying it is as anti-inflammatory as low dose ibuprofen. I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and thought I will buy a bottle as I have nearly run out of the last bottle I bought. A bottle lasts a long time with us so I couldn't really remember how much olive oil costs. I buy one in a glass bottle as I read that the plastic bottles can make the oil go off. At Tesco it was £7.50 for a 500ml bottle. I was shocked at the price. I don't remember olive oil being so expensive?5

Interesting reading indeed @Gers. I've thought for a while that regularly bought products don't taste the same or have a different consistency due to ingredient changes. Sadly it's very rarely for the better.
Yet another reason for home cooking wherever you can - at least you know what's in it!
On that note, today I've made a ginger cake. Once it's cooled, I'll slice it into 12 squares but will freeze half otherwise it will disappear all too quickly. And I'll own up to being a little heavy handed with the ginger but that's OK with us.Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
Interesting article in Mail Online today about how manufactuers are using cheaper ingredients in some foods such as pasta sauces and spreads.
