I’ve had out of date booze before. Usually it’s fine, once or twice it’s gone funny, you can’t tell until you open it but it does keep longer than the dates suggest. If it smells and tastes fine it’s fine to drink IMO. I’d open one and check it.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Morning everyone.
Hope you are all doing well.
Thank you all so much for the information RE : Prickly Heat. I have been avoiding the sun the last few days and thankfully its colder and cooler today so I am not feeling the effects so bad. Also made a purchase on a bidding site and brought a large umbrella which spans 2.7m so it covers the pallet deck we have in the garden so will provide ample shade for me and the dogs in the warmer weather that's coming so we can still enjoy the garden but I have made sure to get some cornflour in and we do have talc as a back up option.
I have been suffering with fatigue for the last 4/5 days so I have not gotten much done at all so today I am trying to make a conserved effort to try and do a few bits. I suspect it is because of being back on meds properly - both of which have tiredness as a side effect - plus the heat, plus only getting 5hrs sleep a night if that for the last few weeks. So needless to say I am on a bit of self care this week, resting when I need to and eating properly and thankfully I have decluttered and cleaned the house thoroughly the last few weeks so I can do minimum housework.
Currently sat looking at a bag of outgrown clothes from the kids that I am meant to be listing on various pages but I am on MSE instead. I have cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and now Im sat trying to figure out something for husbands birthday which is coming around quickly. (21st) Im not paid until the actual day of his birthday though so its proving interesting especially with Fathers Day 3 days before
Dinner for tea tonight will be burgers with leftover halloumi for the husband and burgers for me and the kids, with homemade chips or potato wedges (energy depending!)Time to find me again13 -

Just looked at a fairly recent bottle of famous Grouse- must be the only consumable product without any kind of date!! (and the Amaretto still has a bit in the bottle)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

We seem to have low water pressure again today but I can't find any info re problems on the water company's website. I've filled the kettle - just in case!
The last lot of engineering works on our television transmitter took place in the early hours of this morning. We haven't had the TV on yet but I feel a re-tune may be needed this evening (again).
The latest news in our area is that First Bus drivers are planning to go on strike every day from Sunday June 18th for an indefinite period. Apparently, they agreed during the pandemic to temporarily move their annual pay increase date from April to October to help out the company but, due to the current high cost of living, have asked for it to be moved back to April again. It's stalemate at the moment. We don't have a car and very rarely use buses, preferring to stay locally within walking distance, so the effect on us would be minimal - unless of course any unexpected/necessary appointments crop up. If so, we'd have to book a taxi for which I have a cash pot I can raid. I can see their point of view but it will be hard for those who rely on buses to get to work or hospital appointments.
Grocery delivery is due tomorrow and, despite being very careful about what I've ordered and some judicious pruning before placing the order, it's still a case of not a lot for the money - just over £52. To be fair, it's mainly store cupboard items that I need to replace what I've used over the last few weeks. I did notice though that tinned veg and fruit seems to have shot up in price - I prefer fresh but do like to have some tins in my pantry to fall back on if needed. Also disappointed that the basics are conspicuous by their absence.
It's not all doom and gloom though - it's another beautifully sunny day, warm with a light breeze and I have some local strawberries to enjoy.Be kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Is that just in your area about the First busses @YorksLass I haven't heard anything locally and we have First busses.

It's just in Leeds Auntycaz - Bradford, Halifax, Calder Valley and Huddersfield are expected to operate as normal. Other bus operators in Leeds eg Arriva, Harrogate Bus Co etc will still be running too.Be kind to others and to yourself too.5

My youngest DD loves her garden and most of her flowers are in pots or hanging baskets as she has three dogs that get the run of the garden.
She was quite cross that her hanging basket of strawberries that had just ripened off were scoffed by the birds , but then noticed that the main protagonist was a male robin who was pinching them and taking them back to feed his nest of babies ,so being a soft soppy lass she said at least its feeding them and has got over her angst.
DGS Jack couldn't get home the other week from his job in deepest Kent as the trains were on strike, He's hoping it will be OK this weekend as he wants to get home for Fathers Day ,in fact all four of the boys will hopefully be home.
My spuds are flourishing, and the tops are flowering now so won't be long before harvesting them. DGS Ben is so excited as he planted them for me, and its the first thing he's ever grown He lives and teaches in Hendon north London so only gets home about once a month, so he will be around to inspect them this weekend.
I'm eating from my fridge and freezer to use up odds and ends as I'm away on my holidays on the 30th June for a couple of weeks so I like to try to use as much up as I can , anything left I give to the young lass next door to use up as she is always good and keeps an eye on my place for me and sticks her hose over the fence to give the garden a bit of water if it gets too dry.
Right I feel the kettle calling me for a cuppa
Take care all and enjoy the sunshine
JackieO xx
