Especially with a G&T to hand waiting for the boy on a bike to arrive with freshly cooked samosas.9 -
I've mostly looked to cut back on things that don't bring any benefits to me (junk food) and trying to invest in things that make my life better (healthy food) or things that may save me money in the future (more fuel efficient car, solar panels etc)11

Thanks chums for some good advice I didn't think its maybe limescale ,quite possibly as the water is very hard.I come under Southern Water as I live in north Kent (the Medway ) I think I'll give it a shot with some white vinegar and some toothpicks before I spend out for a new one
I'm all in favour of saving the cash and repairing what I have as the shower head works OK just no where near as fast as my daughters 'jet stream one '

For descaling my shower head I pour some white vinegar in a sandwich bag, shower head goes in, secure the top with an elastic band, leave it propped up in the bath overnight. A careful swish about, and I rotate the thing on the side that changes the shape of the jets, some more careful swishing about, and it’s good as new by morning.I do the overnight vinegar bag thing on my taps too. Works a treat
Edit - I’m in a hard water area too, but doing this a couple of times a year keeps everything clear.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.10 -
Anyone else seeing lots of regular items out of stock. I've just returned from staying with my DD and my local waitrose has lots of empty shelves. No hovis white, no cucumber, no bananas to name just a few. Had no problem getting them in Derbyshire where she lives.6

@Brambling thank you for your reply, I'm in Norfolk. I did know there were a few problems with the new distribution system but the lady in waitrose said the problem with the hovis had nothing to do with that. Funny they had the wholemeal which is a lot more expensive though.5

I'm finding it's not so much regular items that are out of stock, more the basics range (Sainsbury). Plenty of higher priced stuff though!
Belated Spring cleaning continues and I'm now tackling the spare bedroom. It's very rarely used so gets just a lick and a promise every now and again but I've decided it needs a thorough clean. Oh why do I make work for myself?I've taken down the curtains and couldn't quite believe how dirty they were - they'll be washed tomorrow when the weather promises to be a bit better. Next I cleaned the lampshade - that seemed to take forever as it's a modern chandelier style; a chrome ring with three tiers and 46 long clear acrylic pear shaped drops hanging from it. And finally evicted more cobwebs than I cared to see.
Tomorrow I want to clean the windows but will have to do that in the morning before the sun gets round. To keep myself motivated, I've made a list of everything that needs doing so I can tick jobs off one by one. I'm a great one for lists!
They work for me. And I've realised I'm not as young as I used to be - I can still do things but everything seems to take so much longer.
Last week I went to the hairdresser's and on my way there saw that the blackberry brambles I use have been chopped down.I hope I can find another patch somewhere else, otherwise there'll be no jam making this year.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.7
