Quick walk to the Co-op today just for a TV guide for which I had a 25p membership MOC but I also bought a pack of x 4 mince pies reduced to 13p, bb date 15th Jan. It's safe to say they'll be gone before then!Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
Todays little win, next years Christmas cards, money wallets and gift tags all half price. That's at least £8 saved.
Went to a little indoor market in Bridgnorth and found my usual dog treats 25p cheaper than my usual supermarket.
It all adds up.
Had a chat with a lovely lady in a charity shop. She's really struggling with cost of living. I told her all about the MSE forum, olio and freecycle. She jotted it down ad said she'll be joining us all soon.
Decluttered a large collection of lightbulbs via olio today. That's freed up some shelf space in the garage.16 -
For anybody close to a CardFactory, they are now doing a 75% off sale on Christmas items.
I bought some nice paper and gift bags.11 -
Just wanted to briefly update for everyone who wished my mum well, we found out today she is officially in remission. Cancer free for 2023 ☺️36

Happy New Year everyoneNot posted in a while, lead up to Christmas in work was manic , got the 2 days off and straight back to chaosHowever I took a nasty fall in work last week and Im now out of work so things are going to be tight, very tight, for a few months till I recover and am fit enough to go looking for a job. Im waiting physio which thankfully starts Friday, but in the meantime the pain is really getting me down and I cant get comfortable to sleep so Im feeling rather sorry for myselfStill, I was lucky enough to get some good yellow sticker bargains - legs of lamb for £8, half price turkey etc so we wont be starving
We dont have gas here, the electricity for the quarter was £400 and £500 for oil which lasted 10 weeks and another £500 bought yesterday . Its not helping that oil went up to over £1 a litre but hey ho, at least we dont use it in the summer - or rather not a lot of it
Still theres word out that we are finally going to get help with the electric bills at long last, by the end of March12 -
Grey day here - heating on at 19 - still no sign of our gas use statement.

Sorry to hear people have been suffering nasty shocks from energy bills. I've been quite reassured by ours - we've seen huge rises as we're almost entirely electric - so from around 7p a unit overnight just over a year ago up to 16p a unit now after another increase on the 1st - so far though we're roughly on track to use around £1400 worth of electric and gas this year though - I'll take that. That allows for aiming to keep our living room at around 19 degrees C at the coolest too - it does occasionally drop below, but it's also sat above some of the time, so roundabouts and swings, I guess.
Timehastoldme that's wonderful news!
Longwalker - not such good news from you though - I'm sorry to hear of it, and rather alarmed that it sounds as though your work have laid you off after you had an accident on their account, effectively. I really hope it's not as it seems - but if that is the case then you really need to get some advice on it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes the accident was a work place injury, I fell over a pallet that should not have been in a walk way. The pallet was only just being filled so was low, I never saw it as I was carrying produce, over I went, face down into it. And not one person asked if I was ok. Half an hour later I tripped over the same pallet again - as I say it was in a walk wayI told my boss as we were finishing up for the day and he just roared at me that falling over a pallet twice should really tell me something !!!So I thought to myself, yes, you are a !!!!!! and dont care about your workers safetyI handed my notice in and got put on gardening leaveRight now Im just worrying about getting some physio , its obvious Ive trapped a nerve in my neck, head is heavy, neck and shoulders ache, arm is heavy and numb and pins and needles in my fingers , before I decide what steps I might take - if any. Theres no health and safety in work whatsoever, fella who left in the summer left with two broken toes after a tonne box of spuds fell on his foot and 3 people have had stitches due to cuts this year alone. I knew it was bad, but its never gotten this bad - too many orders, not enough space. I liked my job, 7 years Ive worked there in the freezing cold, near squalid conditions, but Im no spring chick and Im not bouncing back from this and no matter how much I need the money, no point if Im on the sick.Something will turn up, always doesIf not Ive always been entitled to carers allowance as Im also a full time carer, so if worse comes to the worse, Ill claim that. I refuse to jump through hoops to try and get JSA and I think I can claim a pension in a years time. So Im not going to be looking at a food bank just yet
Thank you for your concern, I do appreciate it. Ive got time to think about what I intend to do about the accident. I just want to get pain free first20
