Oh, so sorry to hear that @london_1. If he’s not ready to commit, it may be better that it’s ended now than waiting til they have children (if they do) but still very hard for her. I hope they do manage to work it out.My sister was only married for a few months (in her mid 20s) before she split from her first husband. He still wanted to spend all his time and money partying with his friends and wasn’t interested in saving, paying off his debts (which he’d kept secret), buying a house or being home in the evenings. She’s now married again and her husband is a gem.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Sorry to hear about your granddaughter @London_1. These things are never easy but they're extra hard at this time of year. I hope she'll be alrightI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8

Its hard when you see someone so unhappy as its apparently come out of the blue. But she's a strong person so I'm hoping she will pull through Okay.
My youngest DD split from her first husband when their little girl was 7 months old, he was extremely controlling and she just had enough when he was behaving like this ,and they had been married three years before the longed for baby arrived. But she too got herself together from leaving carrying the baby and a cactus I had given her when she was 16.She since remarried to a smashing chap who worships her and they have had four gorgeous sons, she's never regretted the tough time she had as she said it made her so much stronger. I'm sure my DGD will be the same. She was under the hospital for PCOS as they both wanted children , but it seems its not likely to happen. He has decided he needs his space so she is giving it to him ,what will happen who knows but its a worry for my eldest DD and son-in-law. Kids, we worry when they are little, and still worry about them when they are grown and flown
Today I woke up to freezing fog and the possibility of a sprinkle of the white stuff tonight. I may walk around to my youngest DDs this afternoon instead of taking the car.
I was going to go to the supermarket, but as its nothing urgent I think I will leave it until Tuesday when I go to coffee morning at Dobbies as its right next door.
Two weeks today is Christmas Day, and to be honest I will be glad when its past, and the New Year arrives and things get back to relative normality. All my presents are bought and wrapped thank goodness and any cards I sent have gone off mostly abroad as I hand deliver to family and make a donation to the SA with what I would have spent on the rest for cards postage etc.my friends all know this and are quite happy that I do. I shall see most of them before Christmas anyway.
Tomorrow I'm off to see my sis-in-law in Faversham and will pick up the little Christmas cake she makes every year for me.Its just enough for me and my DDs ma-in-law to have half each as we are the only ones who enjoy Christmas cake in the family. Its delicious and our treat at Christmas
Right the kettle is calling for another cuppa, have a good weekend chums and keep warm

Sad about your granddaughter Jackie but a very sensible decision to give sympathy but not be drawn into the “he’s a bar steward” type conversations - whatever you might think in private. That approach has stood me in good stead in the past when friends have split up then got back together, while others have had fallout from “I never liked him anyway” type comments.Freezing here today - the trees are all coated with a thick layer of frost and looking absolutely beautiful though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Lots of snow here in Sheffield, had to put the heating on as soon as I got out of bed"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "8

Freezing & fog here too: was 14.5 degrees in my living room! ( and that's the warmest room as this is backroom, mid terrace.) The heating is on.
Annoyingly the solar panels aren't showing a lot of life and I have fruit soaking for a sc cake. the fruit won't go off- no worries there. Because it's cooked on high it does eat power...
As you can guess I was so excited to be tramping the streets with the hounds at 9 am! My oldie couldn't wait any longer- she will NOT go in the garden. Luckily I remembered that I had been given a dog onesie a few years ago- an equafleece- but it is a bit of a challenge to get the stiff & / or wobbly back legs into it. It's not a perfect fit- for a labbie not a hound but she is snug and cuts a dashing figure in red. It's not snow just very heavy frost with a tad of black ice mixed in for good measure.
I am wearing my M&S red long johns! Seems you can date their clothes by the labels (who knew??) and these are very modern: from the 80s..... on Friday I altered a duvet cover which I had made from a new flat sheet some years ago. I had to add a fitted sheet & pillowcase in matching design to accomodate a silk duvet that I acquired!
Oh and the bedlinen? Brentfords circa 1970's. Even more modern! This house certainly has some vintage stuff...
Going to haunt the solar meter to see if there is activity..........please. Looks like fog has lighted a tad.
Stay safe and warm everyone

We considered buying one when visiting a silk factory in China but decided it would be too bulky to carry around for the rest of the tour.10 -

This one turned up in a black bin bag in the summer- I wondered what it was then peered inside the cotton ties: a silk duvet.Expensive but not cleanable- I googled. Cotton cover is slightly grubby but can't be removed as the silk inside is just like fine wadding. Made a new cover to fit. It's very warm but light in weight, even with 2 covers.

Definitely chilly this morning, the freezing fog was so dense I couldn't see the street lamps! I woke up just before 5am with my dodgy limbs not wanting to lie down any longer so came downstairs as not to disturb DP. Made a brew and sat on the sofa with a heat pad on the sorest bits and a blanket over my lap. I was quite toasty with my fleecy long dressing gown and blanket so didn't bother putting the heating on. The only downside was when I had to get up to make myself my next cuppa...the heating hadn't come on yet, so was quite cool in the kitchen.Since then I've fed the birds and put fresh water out in the bowls for the wildlife, had breakfast, and had more tea. I'm sure at some point I'll crash as I only managed around 4 hours sleep, but at least I've got the main things done.I also got a £10 Christmas bonus (via ESA as I'm in the support group) so that will be used for a few treats like a box of mince pies and some nice chocolate to enjoy over Christmas (DPs work closes for 10 days over Christmas/New Year).Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £36513

So sorry to hear about your DGD Jackie, you're right to keep your own counsel about it, even though it can be very hard. All we can do is offer support whilst not taking sides, whatever our private thoughts might be. I hope your wool arrives soon, I know you'll be itching to get going with it.
Very little frost here today - such a contrast to yesterday - and it's bright and sunny but still very cold. Today we're having a chicken casserole using just two (large) thighs and I need some of that meat for another meal so I'll be adding some dumplings to the casserole to pad it out a bit. Last night we had hm tomato & red pepper soup with a sandwich. And chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce.
We didn't watch the footie - DH isn't bothered about it, more of rugby fan and I can't abide it - but I am sorry England hasn't made it through to the next round. We only have Freeview so it's been a challenge (to say the least) to find something to watch in the evenings. Fair to say, I'll be glad when the World Cup has finished!Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
