I used to like Weetabix with hot milk.:) I did buy some Horlicks recently as they have made a vegan version, but I will wait until it is properly chilly to try a cup. I haven't had Horlicks since I was about 15 years old!
There is a boot sale near Leigh-on-sea station that I keep meaning to try.
I did get £150 from the DWP today that I was not expecting, but I was happy to receive it. I didn't break even this weekend though as we paid the fence guy almost £200 for his work, sigh.8 -

I had to be at SA at 7.30 this morning. It was raining and a homeless chap was leaving after breakfast - trudging down the road with a rucksack on his back. More homeless folk inside enjoying a free hot breakfast. Makes me feel so Blessed with what I have.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Just noticed that the Tesco's frozen fish that we particularly like ihas now jumped to £5.05 a pop. Earlier this year it was £3.40. No doubt it'll go up again once the effects of this damned stupid budget have worked through the system ...We're all doomed13

Definite price increases being noted, especially with coffee beans and cheese (two essentials in my book!) We are having a treat today though as I managed to get a huge bit of silverside beef really cheaply and so I've cut it in two, one for the freezer, and one is in my slow cooker on a bed of veg. The biggest problem is the smell is making me very hungry! We'll do roasties, Yorkshire puds, and veg. Leftovers will be used for sandwiches for DP, and lunch for me, and I'm going to use some of the cooking liquid for gravy and some into the freezer to be used next week when making a pie.I've not received the £150 yet (getting PIP now), but when it does come through I know one thing I'm planning on buying -- a toaster as ours went "pop" the other day and had a little puff of smoke out of it.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3659

I'm making good use of my new steamer and this morning have done some ys chilli chicken kebabs wrapped in foil in the top tier and a large batch of sliced carrots in the bottom tier. The chicken will be had tonight with salad and the cooked carrots can go in a box in the fridge, then microwaved as and when needed as an extra veg on dinners.
DH remembers having warm milk on Shredded Wheat as a child but they were never a favourite of mine - straw springs to mind!Never a fan of Horlicks either.
Yesterday I went through my household budget book month by month and so far everything is in order. Feeling very pleased as there's been a small surplus left at the end of each month that I've squirrelled away for winter. It's definitely getting more difficult though with all the price increases for food and energy and I can imagine the bit of wriggle room I have is going to get smaller as the months progress.Still, I'm thankful for what we do have and will plod on - good job I'm resourceful!
Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -

Yes, you had be receiving PIP payments on 25th May in order to get it, or to have applied by that date and get the payment backdated and including that date. Those who were already getting it on that date get paid first and those who were still in the application process during that time will get paid a little later.
