So does mine. My maiden name began with a T and my NI number begins with a Y so one way or another I've nearly always been trailing behind. However my winter fuel payment has always been paid quite early. I don't know what method DWP use but I don't think it's anything we will ever be able to work out!London_1 said:I have a permanant DLA payment that I have had since 2003 so I know its in the pipeline. I spoke to a lady on the phone and she said its possible its being done alfabetically, it which case it shouldn't be too long as my surname begins with a w

I have just done my final animal check and it is 4 degrees here. The wood burner has been lit all afternoon, and we are in bed now with electric blankets / hot water bottles xx8

My surname begins with a 'C' (N.I. begins with a 'Y'). Although no sign of the £150 payment just yet, I'm really glad of this help. I'm happy to wait, as long as thy have not forgotten about me.
I'm careful to manage within my means ... was disappointed to notice that 'my' 4 pint carton of fresh milk has gone up on Saturday (in Asda) from £1.45 to £1.55. Heavy to carry but will try to find it cheaper - if possible.
 UPDATE:
Just editing my post to add that I am pleased to say that the £150 Disability payment has gone into my bank today - 29 September - and is very much appreciated.7

Good Morning chums, just light here and not too cold at least for the moment. Like Deleted_User I will wait and be glad to get any help that comes along.
The money news on the financial front yesterday wasn't brilliant was it, but we will just have to bite the bullet and hope for the best I think.
Many people will find times hard this winter but the err... older ones amongst us have been here and bought the tee shirt before in the 1950s,70s, 80s etc.
Its worrying for those hoping to buy somewhere to live if mortgages get held up, and this morning the news is that many are taking on second jobs to help with rising prices.
I can remember doing that in the 1980s when my late husbands contract in Africa finished and he was unemployed for 14 months, boy that was a lean period and at one time I was doing three jobs a week at various places. But it just about kept our heads above the water and things did gradually improve thank goodness.
Its harder perhaps for the younger ones as they have not really seen a bad recession in their lifetime but watching the cash as much as possible and shopping aound for as much as you can will help. Buy what you need and eat what you buy. I streetch things out if I can. but watching the cash as much as possible and shopping aound for as much as you can will help. Last night my eldest DD was talking to me on the phone about how she felt pretty good that her left over sunday rost had fed both her and her OH last night where she normally would not have bothered and just given the meat to her DDs dog !!!
I did smile as unlike her sister - who is more like me (she's had to be with five children )- my eldest had got out of the habit of streetching stuff to a second meal.
Both her and her husband are fairly comfortably off and both work full time and have a decent income and their children have grown and flown so her shopping habits have changed quite a bit over the past few years.
But the rising costs have made her suddenly realise that something had to change and she was asking me about various bits she could do to stretch things out a bit more. better late than never at least
I told her to ditch the outside coffees that she has a tendancy to buy and to take her packed lunch to work for a week and see what she can save. Apparenly she spends around £20 odd a week just on take away coffees ! and goodness knows what on a sandwich to go with them its daft as when her children were at home they had packed lunches that she made for them for school the night before .Bless he I will remake her ideas a bit I think with a bit more gentle persuasion .Bless he I will remake her ideas a bit I think with a bit more gentle persuasion
Well its coffee morning this morning and i wll have to fork out for it as our usual Dobbies is closed for a refrb ,but it will come from my Happy Cash Stash (treat pot) so not too bad But I won't have the temptation of Dobbies deli counter at least But I won't have the temptation of Dobbies deli counter at least
have a good day chums and keep an eye out on the spending ,almost the end of the month and only 88 days until Christmas and only 88 days until Christmas

I, for one, dont understand the need of many people to need drinks all the time. You never used to see people carrying coffee, bottles of water etc. Ok I can understand the water when it gets hot but otherwise it just seems a huge waste of money. What I find even worse is the number of parents wh round here take their children to a well known restarant who do unlimited breakfasts before school.. My DGD works there not to mention the queues at Maccy D about 9.30 am.Can anyone enlighten me?12
