Golly I live in the Medway ,but next time I visit my sis-in-law in Faversham I think I shall get a bus into Canterbury and have a shufti around.
I know there is a lovely Fenwicks there, or was last time I was there. I was directed to a really nice SA ? restaurant then and if I recall it was upstairs in one of the roads off the High street I think, but it was several years ago. It may not have been SA but for some reason I think it was and there were some lovely veggie meals available as well. Maybe some one locally can tell me, actually a traffic warden told me where to find it I doubt I could find it again though it must have been a good 3-4 years ago

Yes you are right as it takes 24 hours to get a fridge/freezer up to temp. so very little electric will be saved as it will be working at full out to get back up to temp. And food inside will always be on the edge of being defrosted.ZsaZsa said:I’d worry about causing damage to the freezer, they’re not designed to be constantly turned off and on. And once the electricity is restored, the freezer will be working harder than before to return to the correct temperature .
Hope for everything and expect nothing!!!

Yes me too. I make a big pot of tea in the morning with 2 teaspoons of loose tea. I let it sit with the caddy on for a wee while, give it a stir and then pour it into my big Stanley flask (through a strainer). Then I have tea on tap all day, and if it gets a bit too cool in the evening then a quick zap in the microwave does the trick. Low energy, and low tea usage, and the tea is a good strength as well.newlywed said:Loose tea drinker here…
I have a filter that sits in the cup. When done i rest it in an old Nutella glass and then re use the tea leaves about 4 times before emptying and refilling with fresh leaves.
can’t bear stewed tea sat inside pot for hours….Live the good life where you have been planted.

I popped to my local Asd. before I started my volunteering at SA - no gluten free flour so will have to get some from a bigger store.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

"I have looked at knitting my slippers but worried they will be slippery underneath on my hardwood floors - do you add anything to stop them slipping? I have seen some patterns with an attached sewn on sole but they are expensive to buy here" @threepenny_bit@threepenny_bit there is a relatively inexpensive product called sock stop. It's a specialised adhesive that is applied by the crafter or sock wearer to the soles of a sock or slipper. I can vouch for its usefulness.Liv

Quite pleased with tonight’s Olio haul, given the number of people requesting - one person the other day had over 100 requests for some food.Courgettes, carrots, broccoli, olives, 2.5 kg bag of potatoes and 2 packets of feta cheese with a next year use by date. That’ll do for the weekend.Just had the chimney swept as well so looking forward to my proper fire when it gets colder. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.13
