Maybe try that? (If Sonos can't see the PC at all then it sounds like the PC is blocking incoming connections that the PC itself has not initiated).

But, Sonos *can* see the PC - I've installed the app and can control Sonos ...... hmm

If that is the case , it sounds like you're almost there . 

Have you gone into your  audio preferences on your pc and seen the options?

Did you share the pertinent music folder, as in allow that folder to be seen by networked devices?

Seeing as you are talking about local files and not remote purchased or streaming services iTunes is a red herring and is not involved in the getting the music from your computer to Sonos

You are correct - my bad.

I wrongly assumed that as these were all on my ancient iTunes account, that they would still be there but they weren't.
