EonNext smart meter call

Why are you planning on overpaying for your energy rather than having a smart meter installed though? That is money you could spend on jumpers!

Yes. Particularly as it’s a 2 year deal. They would love to throw me off.
seams their plan to me0 -
Read your Ts & Cs very carefully. Back in the day before E.On axed their Company Representatives who posted on this forum, there were tariffs where you only had to agree to be contacted about a smart meter. You didn't have to accept their offer, you just had to agree to be spammed; explained here by former Company Representative Malc.AndyPK said:A recent letter said I had accepted to have a call about a smart meter1 -
Yes
that is what a recent letter said. (Though it was an outsourced letter )
my T&c are above0 -
Maybe the person wants to have some other work done and move the meter at the same time?lohr500 said:@AndyPK Why the aversion to having a smart meter fitted?
Maybe the person wants to wait to see if a new version of smart meters comes out. A family member had one straight away. Then version 2 came out. They changed company and the new company doesn't support version 1 meters, so it's now back to a "dumb" meter that needs reading.0 -
Maybe they do, maybe they don't.anotheruser said:

Nothing to stop the person getting a smart meter fitted now in the existing location then moving it later, if that's the reason.
With any technology there will always be changes. If we accept the suggestion that it is better to wait and see, then we would still be lighting our houses by candle or gas.
I was simply interested in understanding why the OP didn't want a SM fitted. From his reply it seems that the inconvenience of the power outage was the reason.0 -
Your energy will not be off for 2 hours. My electricity was off for about 10 minutes and gas for about 15 minutes. The 2 hours includes the time needed to commission the meters with The DCC network and for safety checks.AndyPK said:It looks like humble pipe for me, or very expensive energy. I guess that's a reasonable exchange. I thought the goverment pushed the SM date out.
Working from home, in winter I don't really want my energy off for 2 hours. But that looks like what I will have to do.

E On Next keep asking me via Text and E-mail if I want a smart meter (moved from Symbio to them on the SVR). I'm just ignoring at present until I know I'll be staying with them longer term.
I'm no averse to them per se but there are a number of issues with blank meter displays that have me concerned. I regularly read the meter anyway and there's no obvious practical benefit of one to me. IF it was an agreed T&C though I'd have known and had one installed asap to comply.0
