I ordered from Papa Johns last night

And it added £1.99 delivery [without telling me] - just snuck it on the final page... I didn't notice until after I'd clicked pay... argh

It seems like that is added onto all bills [from my London shop]

Is this for everyone? It must have started in the last few days....

Bit off to not mention it anywhere on the website, and I can't see it on the internet anywhere....

Seems like some sort of 'deal' - the delivery charge says if they don't deliver within 45 minutes - you get £5 off... which is rather annoying because I always order the meal for a set time [usually over 2 hours in the future... so pretty useless - as they will never be 45 mins late [when they have 2hrs prep time]... hmm.

Anyway - anyone else notice this? I just thought it was sneaky to not announce it anywhere and suddenly throw it in at the end... grr

It's not on your basket page

And if you have auto pay on card - and have use them for years - and click through - yeah you are unlikely to notice until afterwards

BUT it's not that... it's just sneaky - to not have any info about it on the website

It's a change that has happened this week. So it is new, it is a change... and I was asking if other shops [papajohns] have this - or is it just London [or just mine]

    Thanks though

I have just got through to the page where I enter my card details and no delivery fee has been added for my local store here.

Maybe it's just London Stores [or just mine]?

Try a dummy order for another London store. I am over 150 miles from London, was no charge here.

The worst part is where they suggest it's some sort of 'offer' or deal - that means you can now get £5 back.... gah

As I said I tend to order a few hours before - but that no longer seems wise, as you are negating ever getting a £5 rebate - if you give them 2hrs and 45mins instead of 45 mins to deliever

If you order two hours before I don't think the store actually gets the order that early, I think the website holds it and sends it to the story 45min to an hour before the delivery time ready to prep.

I also haven't had the charge so I assume it is only in London. I guess due to Uber Eats and Deliveroo having delivery charges they feel they can get away with it.

Well - we ordered on Friday [no charge]

Then yesterday [Tuesday] and for the first time it was there

So if you haven't had it [but ordered before Tuesday] maybe it will be there for you... do check before you pay [if you have cards set up for fast payments]

I guess it may just be London stores

Hence there being nothing on the website announcing this sneaky increase... I say sneaky - as it's not announced anywhere until you get to the payment page... which when you have used the site many times, you then don't expect any extra charges [delivery] to be added

    It just felt sneaky

Maybe they should have emailed customers - to inform them of this change... and the 'wonderful' £5 off if they are late offer it brings into play, hmm.

Also I don't want them having to rush orders - or lose money - as it effects the pizza quality when they are rammed... and endangers the lives of the delivery people. I think that 30 mins or free pizza deal [in USA] was banned/stopped because of those issues.

    Don't tip the driver then.

Unless you weren't in the first place of course.

That's not great for the delivery people is it...

I have checked and it seems to be just London... checked 5 London branches and all now add delivery charge.

I also checked two outside London and they don't...

It just felt a bit sneaky to add it on without having any info or emailing customers of London branches... and as I said above - it penalises those who like to prebook. As them pretending this is a benefit that you buying some kind of pizza within 45 mins insurance - is heavily biased [in terms of EV] to those ordering straight away...

G'ah - I'll have to order pizzas to my caravan and keep driving it further away from the delivery guy until 1 second after 45 minutes.
