Have you tried Airtime Rewards, the cashback app that links to your payment card?

MSE first wrote about it back in 2019 when it was relatively new. With phone bills rising for many, MSE Laura B has revisited the topic. You can read the guide here:

I've clocked up nearly £50 over the last few years.

They have a relatively new open banking feature called Boost too which has some additional retailers and covers direct debits as well as card transactions. So I get 2% back on my O2 phone bill each month as well.

If your employer offers a prepaid cashback card like bYond as a perk, you can add that to Airtime Rewards and 'stack' some of the benefits too, which is nice. So for example I get double cash back at Asda.

I find it very useful 5% cashback at Boots even on prescriptions.
Refer friends and get a bonus.

    wilkos also pays well.

  • Most of mine is at Asda, although I note that Tesco didnt stay on there long.
  • Best thing ever, I bought an e bike from Halfords and haven’t paid for my phone bill in 4 months now due to the rewards, really easy to set up as well

Does the redeemed credit roll over?
Min credit is £10 which is more than my monthly bill.

Yes, it should do - it just means your account with your phone provider will be in credit.

The other thing to be aware of is that if you let credit pile up in Airtime Rewards without redeeming it, it eventually expires.

Before covid my Dad had maybe £50 on the app, but when I checked recently it had all expired.

    Yes it does,
if you redeem £10 and your mobile bill is £6 a month you mobile bill will shoe + £4 after the regular £6 has been deducted.

To boost your airtime rewards credit refer all your friends  and family
  • Asda cashback ending as of the end of Wednesday.

Bit disappointing as that accounts for 98% of my usage.

    Hi,

Does Airtime Rewards have the same caveats as Nectar Connect (as outlined in the 'New Nectar points boost if you connect your payment plastic to it – earn up to 30 points (15p) per £1 spent' article from June 2021)? I'm new to the forum so I'm not allowed to post links, sorry!

'By signing up, you give Nectar access to your bank and account details, plus detailed info about ALL your transactions, including the amount, date, time and type. Crucially, this doesn't just apply to transactions at Nectar partners – it includes all transactions made while your account's linked, and even historical transactions going back between six months and three years prior to you joining, depending on your card.

Nectar only has 'read-only' access to your data, so it can never make changes to your bank account or payments on your behalf.'

I would've imagined that this is also the case for Airtime Rewards to an extent, although there is no mention of it in Laura B's recent article on the app, so I'd like to clarify!

    Thanks
    :)
