Help needed with new boiler quotes and types

A surprising omission from the first quote is the 'power-flush', ie the cleaning of your old system. This is essential, as there is bound to be some sludge in there, ready to take its toll on the new boiler; modern combis have very narrow waterways (esp in the P2P exchanger), and these are very susceptible to blocking up. A mag filter on its own won't prevent this - I know.Since a system clean seems to be a requirement by pretty much all boiler manufacturers in order to provide a warranty, I think this needs clarifying - surely it is included? On a similar note, a Mag Filter is also a requirement for many manufacturers, so should always be fitted to a new installation or else it won't be warranted. It shouldn't be an 'option' for the 800 guys - tho' it'll only add ~£100 or so.Agy, are you the type of person who usually has an annual service carried out? If so, I think you should look at boiler manufacturers who offer a 10-year warranty. (Actually, I thought Ideal was one!)1

No doubt subject to the usual T&C's.

Thanks BUFF.I think it may be that the 2-year warranty referred to by one of the potential installers was 'theirs' - ie, they would personally warrant the whole installations, and not just the boiler. But I'd still like to have confirmation of the FULL manufacturer's warranty. No point them offering 10-odd years if it ain't signed up for.0

A couple of years back, I got:
My old boiler and tank removed
Logic C30 fitted
Hive smart thermostat fitted
A few bits of pipe changed in the loft and a new device that marks the highest point (some sort of release valve?).
The system was flushed and inhibitor added.
Magnetic filer also added to the system.
2 days of work.
£2300 or so.
I'm sure the guarantee on the boiler is 2 or 3 years, but 10 years for the heat exchanger so long as you get it serviced once a year. This could be where the confusion is coming in.1 -

Precise requirements do vary according to product (e.g. does it need to have a magnetic filter fitted, does it need to be an accredited Ideal installer etc.) - usually mentioned on the individual product page.1 -
What are you inclined to do, Agy?In your shoes, I'd first clarify what - exactly - is included in both these quotes. I'd also ask about the full warranties provided for these boilers, and why they are not being provided (if that's the case).I'd also be inclined to look for at least one more quote with an authorised supplier of a different make, one of the ones I mentioned earlier. The decision might then become more obvious.0

Thank you for all your help guys. It’s really difficult for me because I am very sick and have brain fog as well.I asked 800 why only two years when that particular boiler comes with seven years online. They said the price difference is the reason they only give two. Well, that doesn’t make any sense because the government grant with 800 is about £700 meaning the cost of that whole job would be in line with the private guys anyway. I think they are scamming me somewhere1

I’ve emailed the private guy about the power flush. Let’s see what he says.So their baxi boiler comes with a 10 years warranty but that’s why they also offered me the main eco compact which is apparently exactly the same as baxi 800 but with a five year warranty instead of 10. I still don’t know if it’s exactly the same. Why is it called compact if it’s the same…
Too many issues pointed out with the 800 guys. I think it’s going to be a no for them. I don’t trust them.
I’ve had a quote with a different guy before and he wanted well over three grand for a Worcester Bosch boiler in my one-bedroom flat with only three radiators. And he came highly recommended as trustworthy… hmmm1 -
I’ve just realised that there may be some confusion with the use of “800”. The private guys offered me a boiler called baxi 800 (or main eco at a lower price)This is separate from the 800 repairs company offering the logic boiler 😁1

I had a big worcester fitted -35KW ? for 2.5 k all in with flushing, mag thingy, new inhibitor, and hive last year. Local recommended guy. 2 days.
A lot of the online companies use low quality boilers and use local contractors charging a big price.
Remember you can buy a decent boiler for £900, and they basically swop it out and tweak some pipes. (sorry to dumb down the plumbers good work out there) even with capping off an attic tank.......
I hear veissmann are good.
Long warranty for boiler is essential.1
