Barclays blocked access to my account

Hey guys so recently I’ve sold a few things on market place I’d say around 10-15 items and many paid by bank transfer not much either was just a few computer games,

fast forward to yesterday they have locked my account using code RG21M and have sent me an email to submit documents and the text indicates they want business documents which I haven’t got,

has anyone else experienced this and know what to do as I need to access my money today to pay for the monthly shop.

Is yours a business or personal bank account?

  • It’s a personal account I don’t have a business I was just selling things on marketplace because Christmas took its toll this year
  • You will need to prove then that your activity was a one-off and you arent using your personal account to run a business.

Based on other threads about accounts being blocked, progress is typically measured in weeks rather than hours, so it would be prudent to plan on the basis of not having access to the funds for a while, although you may be able to persuade them to release enough for urgent essentials if you're in genuine hardship....

I would also check that one of those buyers has not made a claim against you about goods not received by them and thus flagged you as a Fraud ..

If that's the issue then that's what Barclays will already be asking OP about, when requesting documents....

You’ll be able to go to a Barclays branch with ID to withdraw wages or benefits payments providing you take proof of those funds eg) wage slip or benefits letter. You would need to use the counter service to do this, as in a lot of branches the counter service closes earlier than the actual branch, you might want to check on their branch finder to see the counter opening hours.

In terms of any other access to your accounts, the app, using the card, that will depend on how long whatever Barclays takes to investigate whatever it is they are investigating takes unfortunately.

One thing I have learned over the years is to never let anyone send payments directly to my bank account when selling things.  I always ask for payment using PayPal gift (I only sell things on forums, never on ebay).  There is no charge when you use PayPal gift.

I agree and and found the OPs statement of apparently passing their bank details onto random people walking the streets to be rather worrying. I certainly won't give my bank details to strangers as that seems to be asking for trouble.

As a general rule, what trouble would you be expecting with the details that are printed at the bottom of every cheque issued in the UK, cheques that were dished out like confetti for decades? Nobody can do anything fraudulent with them, and before someone mentions the Jeremy Clarkson thing, that could have easily been recalled but he chose not to,
