The meter exchange claim is easily defeated by evidencing the serial number of the meter on previous and subsequent bills.
Any claims that the meter was 'reset' are defeated by the actual meter readings before the problems, then the usage recorded by the IHD and the data extracted from it, together with the current readings.
Should be very simple to document.

Unexpected update - I put a complaint in to the ombudsman on 2nd Feb. Nothing from them and nothing from UW yet. On the ombudsman website, it says they're waiting for UW to upload evidence. However, I have just received our latest bill and it's completely thrown me! I can't work out how they've got to that figure

Well, it's progress I guess :D  The smart meter readings seem to be consistent with one another, and with the readings you gave earlier in this thread.

Just a point @Jonesyjak your third photo has your address. I would suggest deleting it and re-up loading with that redacted or cropped!

Looks as if they've recredited all your electricity from 31/01/21 and then re-billed it.

As Qriz says the smart meter readings seem to tally up for the billing. Just check the credit amount tallies up with the amount billed from previous bills.
