Yes, perhaps you need to be more realistic about 2 beds. Or wait till your situation changes.

    I rent a studio bedsit - living/sleeping area is 9'x`14'.

There are 8 in this block. Three of them are occupied by couples.

When you rent more space than you need, it's costing you more to keep/run. I have the opinion it's better to have the cash in your pocket. Especially if your bf is not working, having lower overheads would enable him to get on his feet quicker/easier.

It leaves you more cash to have fun as a couple.

The difference (rent, council tax, heating, insurance) of my studio flatlet compared to a 1-bed flat, I estimate is £150/month. I'd rather have that money than a landlord/the council/utilities company/insurance company.

That is £1800/year I will be better off for renting the minimum space I need.

    (1) I don't understand your response to a sensible question

    (2) Your statistics suggest that you are more fattiepie than cutiepie

Macaque, your response doesn't read very well, I'm hoping it's an oversight on your part?? The OP bumped her question at a point there had been no answers. I'm assuming the problem of finding rented accommodation is all down to previous debt but, misscutiepie1984, I have to admit that I am confused by why you want to move in mid-January, apparently before your boyfriend finds a new job. Wouldn't it be more adviseable to wait until he finds work and then seek a suitable rental that's convenient for both your workplaces? In the meantime, you could concentrate on paying off some of the debts with the hope of starting with fewer overheads and affording a bit more towards a house you both really like and have a spare room (always handy if parents/relatives stay too far away for a day trip).
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.
  • I realise that January is not the best time to move, however we were originally going to move out in Septemeber and decided to stay on for a little while.

Her friend now wishes to move in Mid january which means we need to find elsewhere. My boyfriend is an electrician so will find work very quickly..... the reason why we want a second bedroom is because our families live quite far away and so when they do visit we need another room as it is just not a day trip its like 5 hours drive each way.
