what do LL's mean by bank reference

They request a reference from your bank to ensure you have enough going into the bank to pay the rent every month. The bank doesn't disclose your personal financial details, they just assure the potential landlord that you are good for the money on a monthly transfer, direct debit or standing order - or alert them otherwise, depending on the state of your account over the past whatever number of months.

  • There is one strategy based on advice given by a money adviser either on the television or in the papers.

Relationships tend to change over Christmas. People break up and/or get together. At this stage they need new accommodation.

So properties go on the market in January.

If you can keep your current place say till the middle of February, you may be able to find a nervous landlord in January.
If you are at a poker game and you cannot figure out who is the patsy then guess what...you're the patsy - Warren Buffet
  • Ok, I don't think it is a great strategy, but is one to keep up your sleeve if you are still house hunting in January.

I thought I'd better explain myself as I don't seem to DO anything.
