Advice on buying a car? Kia Rio, Dacia or a MG?

Our other car is a Sandero 1L non-turbo ... it's fine for around town but a bit painful on the motorway/faster roads where some acceleration may be needed (4k revs in 5th gear at 70 mph) - without the turbo it is gutless, so definitely go for a turbo version would be my advice

They say the same about the Duster it needs the six speed gearbox .70 mph for me is under 2K revs with 6 speed .0

Our Sandero (bought new) only has 5 gears. When we originally did a test drive I think the model available must have been a turbo because I remember checking the revs at 70 and thought they said 3k not 4k, so maybe the turbo versions have different gear ratios. (I don't think the test model was 6 speed).Jenni x0

I must like my old cars, but spending over 10K on any of those 3 would cause a little piece of me to die. Although I agree the Kia have a great reputation.2

Not much of a choice imho. i drove a dacia once, and wish i had not done so.......it was like a tractor.
Drive them first.
What does honest john say ?0 -
To most people, a car is just a thing to get from A to B. I've gone from being a petrol head to just getting something boring since the roads are so crap and busy here anyway.caprikid1 said:I must like my old cars, but spending over 10K on any of those 3 would cause a little piece of me to die. OP - why the insistence on brand new? You can get the car you want from stock if you get a barely used one. Given your budget you could even move up to a comfort.3 -
I have a 2013 Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost 5 speed which does 1500 rpm at 70 and 51.5 mpg. So shocked at the revs used here! It can’t be that economical, can it?Jenni_D said:Our Sandero (bought new) only has 5 gears. Wow, so your 1.0 car does 170 mph?Movie_Star said:

I don’t want to call you a liar but… there is no way you are only doing 1500rpm at 70mph in a 1.0 3 cyl car. At least double that and you won’t be getting 51 mpg driving at 70 mph. It’s false info like this which can make forums like this a waste of time.3 -
Good morning OP,
This car seems to be available:

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.2 -
As others have said, theres many people just view a car as a means of getting from A to B and nothing more, and thus want to do so in the most effective way possible.caprikid1 said:I must like my old cars, but spending over 10K on any of those 3 would cause a little piece of me to die. I've also seen people having some very heavy duty machinery as weekend toys but have something quite ordinary as a daily driver that they dont have to care about.
Sometimes i quite like the idea of just driving something vanilla that i can hop out of and not care to look back at it.1
