Help Leaving BT

Hi All,

I wanted to get some help on how to leave my BT broadband contract early, without paying the hefty early termination fee. I have around 9 months left on my 24 month contract.

The reason for wanting to leave BT Is that there is a new service on my road, which offers internet speeds BT cannot come close to.

Does anyone have any ideas or can help me leave BT early?

Thanks in advanced!

You can always leave BT early.  But you agreed to stop with them for 24 months and if you up sticks and leave early, they can charge you for leaving early.  So if you go, they'll charge you.

Only exception may be is if the service provided is so poor and drops below minimum guaranteed speeds for days/weeks/months but if that isn't the case...   either pony up the dough or stay where you are until September.

Ask the new provider to pay your ETC's

G Network. What if I upgraded and terminated within the 14 day cooling off period? Is this an option?

No chance of leaving without any penalties for that reason, you agreed to a contract which you'll have to see out/pay off

If you sign up to G Network online then you have a 14 day cooling-off period to exit the contract, less any usage charges to that date. There is no cooling off period on terminating your BT contract, you'll have no service and you'll owe them 9 months-worth of charges and they'll want their kit back.

Im talking about if I upgraded to the next tier up of BT Halo 3 or what ever it is now. Could I then terminate the contract completely withon that 14 day cooling off window?

No, that would be a different process where you'd revert back to your previous package, not cancel the whole account

That's devious. I can't be bothered wading through the T&C for upgrades but I bet it says that the contract is a revision to that which is extant and that it will revert to the previous service if you cancel (or something like that).
