At least you know it needs work. Mine is apparently fine, but has been stinking, so work has been done to the drains. Smell seems to have gone, but I'm not convinced it's gone completely.5

Sorry you are going through it. I think listen to your gut but also ensuring you have stable finances gives you choices.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Is it close to the house? Ours might be stinky but too far away to smell.greenbee said:At least you know it needs work. Mine is apparently fine, but has been stinking, so work has been done to the drains. Smell seems to have gone, but I'm not convinced it's gone completely.3 -
Thanks SH. TBH I tried to spend my way out of the grief of DH's death so not as financially robust as I could be.savingholmes said:Sorry you are going through it. I think listen to your gut but also ensuring you have stable finances gives you choices.5 -
It's not an unusual response. Don't beat yourself up. I think what I'm trying to say is - do what's right for you with regards to the partner - but make sure that any hasty decisions don't blow up your finances.Alchemilla said:

Pretty much right outside the front door, so noticeable when you arrive, if you have the windows open, and through the vent in the sitting room when the fire is lit... But it shouldn't smell - despite what some people say (most of my neighbours who can't even manage their treatment plants so they don't smell), a septic tank that is working properly shouldn't smell.Alchemilla said:

Thanks SH. Any decisions are fairly finance-neutral fortunnately. Unless I try to spend my way out of the sadness again 🙂savingholmes said:

Spending in sadness is one of my defaults, I'm grateful for this board and my diary as it does help me focus.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
