Thanks @SandyShores, I snapped at the poor dental receptionist yesterday when I went for my check up (just couldn’t face doing that odious, never ending health questionnaire yet again!) and then had something of melt down when I apologised to her afterwards …. So took myself off to my best mate’s house and talked it through with her - we’ve known each other a long time, done a lot of Buddhist and shamanic practice together and when there is sh** going down, we have each other's backs. She made me laugh about it ❤️ She is a tiny, elf-like figure of a person but with the heart and spirit of the first Dan karate she used to be and when she was saying “Alcoholics are worthy of love, but it doesn’t stop me wanting to beat them with a stick!”, it just made me howl with laughter 😂 Bless her, what a ⭐️

It was too late to cook when I got home last night (Mr KK had been busy tidying the garden ready for our visitors today), so we blew this month’s takeaway on a Yak and Yetis - it was sooo good! Slept right through again so am feeling a bit more on an even keel this morning. I have understood that I am at risk of becoming my aunts next latch-on in terms of her dependency and I know I don’t have the resources, the time or the energy for that. I am therefore still sending her daily happy cheering texts but not asking questions of her. Hopefully that way I won’t get drawn in …. I also feel less of a hypocrite as right now I know I am still angry with her and asking questions I don’t really want fake answer to is not where I want to be right now.

Anyway, onto today! First washing load is in - will have to be tumbled due to the weather but I need fresh grundies 😂 and am waiting for Sainsbugs to arrive with various nice things for feeding both us for the week and the friends who are coming for lunch today. We haven’t seen them for years for various reasons, so it will be lovely to catch up with them 😊

We are planning to watch the coronation concert this evening but around that there might be a few chores, some potting shed seed sowing (peas are critical now!) and chilling 😊 Oh, and I MUST find a new mini bucket!

It's always disorientating and shocking when people you've known forever turn out not to be the people you thought they were. Sounds like a horrible whiplash moment for you. Glad you have a friend that can support you with laughter.

Lunch went well - very relaxed and our friends loved the house and garden 😊

Currently roasting carrots for the ‘hummus’ I am taking to the retreat tomorrow 😊 I have programmed the sat nav ready and will pack a bag with all the mats, blankets, pillows etc I have to take tomorrow. It’s a two hour drive and I need to leave at 7.30am to get there on time so want to make tomorrow morning as smooth and easy as possible. 😊

Glad the funeral went well KK. What a tough situation with your aunt, very difficult. You may not know, but ex-Mr Cheery (from many years ago) had a serious drink problem which took over our entire lives. I found much help nd comfort in Al Anon - not for everyone, but certainly helped me. If nothing else, it showed me I wasn't alone. They have a helpline if you ever need to talk things through with someone who's been there xx

Glad you've got a good friend to talk to, and enjoy the retreat! 😊

Thanks @Cheery_Daff. I didn’t know that part of your history but I appreciate your sharing it with me.

I will have a rummage at the AA website.

Oh, as I had to drive past or partly through (it was very hard to tell which I was doing) Bristol’s clean air zone, I have just checked whether I needed to pay anything. My little F1at is exempt! Phew 😊

I do see both sides of it though. The air pollution in Bristol was getting so bad it was becoming a real hazard to human health.
